Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just put your product, service, or idea out there once, and people just showed up consistently to throw money your way? It would be incredible, but business doesn’t always work out that way. Last month I took a break from my blog and biz because I was completely burned out. I took some time off to breathe, reconnect with my why and get my ish together. Taking that time off was the best decision I could've ever made but now that I am back in the game I’ve been struggling with some major anxiety. I don’t know what it is but I just haven’t been feeling like my bold, brave self. Lately when I sit down to start a project or do some dream work a sense of overwhelm and anxiety washes over me. Out of the clear blue sky, I’ve been afraid to hit publish, scared to show up on social media, second-guessing whether or not I should reach out to folks for partnerships and collabs. Which is so not like me. I'm usually front and center getting my dreams on and popping but lately, I've been playing small. I can't quite put my fingers on it but I think the reason that I'm having an anxiety flare up is that I'm at a point in my life and career where I am leveling up. I’ve been praying some mighty big prayers and taking some bold actions to match and my inner critic ain't having it.  She's been trying to punk me these past few weeks in order to keep me safe and sound in my comfort zone. I was letting her win for a second. That’s is until I was at home in my studio in the middle of a major meltdown and I asked myself a question that legit obliterated all of my anxiety and overwhelm. Episode No. 3 Don’t Wait For Inspiration: Discipline Is Bae

Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.”- Diane Von Furstenberg"]A few years ago I went through a pretty rough breakup and as I was trying to wrap my head around the whole ordeal I kept reading articles that told me to love myself. I feel a little silly admitting this but I'd sit back and be like "BUT HOW THOUGH?!" I did all the shopping, all the mani's and pedicures; but I still felt like crap. And so I began on a quest to discover what it truly meant to love myself. And what I've found over the years is that for me it has been more about nurturing the relationship that I have with myself and less about taking trips to the spa. Showing myself some love has looked a lot like unlearning my limiting beliefs and behaviors. Speaking up for myself when my natural tendency (a.k.a learned behavior) is to keep quiet because I don't want to ruffle any feathers. It's been validating my own emotions and opinions instead of searching for some outside source to do it. How many times have you had an idea or a dream but you didn't do anything with it because you didn't know how? One thing that keeps us from accomplishing our dreams is that we don’t know how to do things. We get stuck in a rut because we don't take the steps to gain knowledge in the areas where we struggle.Listen, I get it. When I started No Real Jewelry, I had no clue what I was doing. But I didn't let that stop me. It took hustling to figure out everything I didn't know how to do. I found a way to make the things I wanted to happen happen. Episode No 5. Everything Is Figure-It-Out-Able

You have to trust that some stuff will be revealed once you take action.""]Oh, clarity, the gift, and the curse.Clarity is such an essential tool for us #goalgetters. We need it in order to ensure that we're taking the right steps in our lives, goals, and business.But here's the thing though, sometimes clarity likes to hide behind its dear old friend- ACTION. That's right. There will be times in your goal chase when you won't know your next step until, well, you take a damn step.I know it would be so much easier if we could all just look into a crystal ball and see all the good, the bad and the ugly before we took our respective leaps of faith. But i'm afraid that it just doesn't work like that.It's more like get an idea, follow it through (even though you're scared 💩 less), commit to doing the work (even when you might not see results) and then boom a LITTLE bit of clarity comes! Wash, rinse, repeat.Well most of us don't like that cycle very much. We'd much rather have everything all mapped out. And so what happens? I like to call them Psuedo relationships. It's when you're "dating" someone and it feels almost like a whole relationship but not quite. You and your boo may always  hang out, finish each other's sentences, have sex, go out, meet friends and family but when it comes time to have THE talk about making things official and committing to each other, someone always says;  "Nah, why mess up what we have with a label?"🤨 (That's my-- make it make sense face.) Anyway does that sound familiar? It does to me because I have been in more than my fair share of situationships. So I did what most aspiring young artists do-- I uprooted my life and moved away from my family and friends to pursue my acting career. In 2015 my luck finally changed and I started booking major acting gigs, but guess what? One of my biggest goals this summer was to make sure that I had fun, and fun I had! I went to every rooftop, speakeasy, day party, festival BBQ, you name it. And guess what? I loved every single minute of it! Here's the thing though, while I was out and about sipping on Margarita's and living my best life,  I lost sight of my hustle a little bit. I was so busy key-keying that I let some of my goals fall by the wayside. Once August rolled around I could feel myself flirting with major burnout so I decided that hell or high water September would be a-- "girl sit yo ass down somewhere and get back focused on your hustle"-- September. So I spent some time last weekend reconnecting to my why.  I set some intentions, created a strategy and decided to execute the hell out of it over the course of the next twelve weeks. Episode No. 65 Recommitting To Your Hustle

After nearly 4 years of bootstrapping my business, your girl is tired and ready to level the heck up. So I recently made a major investment in my business in hopes of taking NRJ from hobby to a full-blown, full-time profitable business. Is it scary? Hecky yeah! I've never made such a huge financial investment in my creative entrepreneurial journey. But it was definitely time to. If I'm being completely honest I feel like I've hit a wall. I created NRJ and carried this bad boy for 4 years on my own but now I feel like I'm stuck and I need some help scaling it to the business I know it can be. Hmmm... just what I thought.🧐 It seems to me that you have everything all sorted out but I can't seem to see where you scheduled some intentional joy time in there. Hey listen, don't worry. I used to do it all the time too. I'd make sure I got all the things done, but fun? Adventure? Exploration? Hell to the naw naw! It was all hustle for me. That is until I found myself in yet another creative/emotional rut. I was starting to face burnout again for the 50 millionth time. 😒 So what did I do? I made joy a priority!Every week I'd take my planner and pencil in something fun (preferably free), or adventurous that would help break up the monotony of the dream chase.  And let me tell you it dug me out of my funk and helped me to reconnect with me again.
