This work can be hard.  It takes a lot of self-awareness, a lot of humility to see yourself for who you really are sometimes, and a lot of determination to create the changes you want in your life.  So if it's just a lot of hard work, why invest in this process?  Why take the time to work with a coach or do self-coaching?  Why invest time and money to do something that can be so heart-wrenching and overwhelming sometimes?  Today, I'll share with you why I do it, and it will probably sound a lot like the reasons you'll want to do it as well.

But sometimes reality means that we have children disengage and decide they no longer want to be a part of our lives. And that is really painful. Do you ever think of yourself as a fixer-upper?  Sometimes it seems there is just so much we need to fix to get us to a healthy and happy place.  But what if we were to embrace the idea that there isn't actually anything about ourselves that we need to fix?  What if we were to accept the fact that we are perfect just the way we are?  What if we could start believing that we are completely whole and that it's just our behaviors that need tweaking?  Let's chat about it.

Although we often use the words guilt and shame interchangeably, understanding the difference between them can be a real eye-opener. Emotional Adulthood.  It's a beautiful thing when we learn how to take full responsibility for all of our emotions and stop blaming others for how we feel and for our behaviors.  It can be a process to learn because most of us were taught from the time we were young that other people were responsible for how we feel, but taking back the control over ourselves is an amazing, empowering process!

#3 for better mental health is little to no buffering.  Buffering is the process of using something external to try and solve for an internal problem, such as emotional discomfort.  But buffering, although it may feel good in the moment, has some unintended consequences such as keeping us from truly experiencing life and keeping us from truly knowing who we really are.  Discovering how and why we buffer and how to stop is a huge component in getting to greater mental health.
