Dr. Garland is the Distinguished Endowed Chair in Research, Professor, and Associate Dean for Research in the University of Utah College of Social Work, and also the Director of the Center on Mindfulness and Integrative Health Intervention Development and Associate Director of Integrative Medicine in Supportive Oncology and Survivorship at Huntsman Cancer Institute.  Dr. Garland also was appointed in 2019 by NIH director Dr. Francis Collins to the NIH Heal Multi-Disciplinary Working Group to work on strategies for pain management and reduce opioid addiction.
