And that's something to remember: make the best choices you can that fit within your budget and your lifestyle. Just because you can afford grass fed meat doesn't mean you should be heating up a hot pocket or freezer meal or eating fast food. That's gross. Eat real food, even if it isn't perfect. Paleo on a budget was a highly requested topic. Because, well, everyone is on some sort of budget. And that's something to remember: make the best choices you can that fit within your budget and your lifestyle. Just because you can afford grass fed meat doesn't mean you should be heating up a hot pocket or freezer meal or eating fast food. That's gross. Eat real food, even if it isn't perfect. It's better than what most of the population are eating out there. Here's a little recap from the podcast: Places to find cheaper meats: 	Find a farmer near you 	Get a deep freezer 	Split a cow 	Freeze and thaw and eat everything you are given Online companies for meats that can ship: 	US Wellness Meats 	Texas Grassfed If you buy at the grocery store: 	Grassfed, if possible 	Look for what is on sale and cook that 	Use the cheaper cuts like stew meat or roasts or organ meat - learn to cook those items 	If you can't get organic or hormone free or grassfed, remove excess or any visible fat before cooking (that's where sketchy sh*t is stored) When buying vegetables: 	Join a local CSA 	Eat in season - you'll know something is in season when it's a little cheaper, but you can also find a full list here 	Items that are less important when it comes to buying organic - Clean fifteen 	Items more important to buy organic and wash thoroughly – Dirty dozen Pantry staples: 	Buy products from Amazon 	Buy in bulk at Costco 	Thrive Market 	Tropical traditions Spices: 	Buy in bulk and online Baking: 	If you’re trying to stay on budget DON’T BAKE. Baking costs so much more and it’s unneeded in our diet. You need real food, so stay away as much as you can when it comes to baked goods. 	Make your own products such as almond milk, almond flour, ghee, etc. Start looking at what your normal expenses are: 	Are you going out to drinks every week with friends? 	Are you paying $5 every day for a coffee? 	Are you eating out on a weekly basis? 	What things can be removed so you can eat better. It's all about choices, even on a really tight budget! Paleo on a Budget – Episode 4: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

I always believed calories in-calories out when it came to weight loss and weight management. But after competing in CrossFit, limiting my caloric intake, and working out multiple times per day - I finally figured out that was not the case. My body was inflamed and yearning for more carbohydrates and less exercise. But I was too addicted to exercise to see the full picture. My workouts began to suffer and my body continued to progress into a constant state of stress. There was no recovery in my life and my body began to show it.It wasn't until I gave up competing, gave in to more rest days and started feeding my body properly that I began to see results. I slept longer at night, I slowly began to lose weight and the inflammation in my body reduced, I listened to what exactly my body was craving and ate those things, and I became a much MUCH happier person.I had no balance in my life for so many years. I would either completely limit my food intake or eat everything in sight. I would not workout at all or workout multiple times per day. I would completely hate everything about myself and constantly talk down to myself instead of putting good energy out into the world. It was a really negative times, that lasted for about 24 years.I'm saying all this because I see so many other people go through it as well. Thinking they need to starve themselves or just workout more instead of looking at the big picture: workout regularly, take rest days, eat well, stress less, sleep more, and be kind to yourself. I’ve been able to eat all paleo whenever I have my meals delivered to my doorstep, and everything is so freaking good. You know what’s sad though? This week, I could not eat my Sun Basket meal because I was in Seattle over the weekend, and I was leaving for Montreal. And I knew my husband wasn’t going to follow any sort of directions, so I asked my neighbor if she wanted the box. I just asked her last night what she thought of it, and she said her and her husband absolutely loved every single meal. So I think I have them sold on Sun Basket too. It just makes life so much easier on those crazy nights when you don’t know what to cook, or you're just not feeling inspired. They will get you inspired. And now that it’s back to school season, it’s even better to have those things. So how’s it going? Right now, I’m on the couch. I’m looking at the dog, who has completely made a next on the top of the couch cushion. So I’ll be sitting. So my left side is up against the couch cushions. Like my feet are laid out. We have an L-style couch. So my left arm is digging into this couch cushion. And every since Jackson, months ago, decided to make this his new favorite spot, I have shoulder issues, because the couch cushion presses into my shoulder, puts me in a weird position. And I feel like everybody is always like; oh, CrossFit causes injuries. No, it’s my couch cushion that causes injuries. Which are enhanced by physical activity. That has nothing to do with this podcast. I feel like this podcast is going to be a hodgepodge of information. Which I guess it usually is. I feel like I’ve wanted to do more interviews, but number one I have not had time. Number two, I don’t know who I want to record. I want to record with my friend, Jennifer, from Predominantly Paleo. Because she’s adorable. But I want to go outside of paleo and into other places. But I just can’t think of who I want that to be. I don’t know. I don’t know. So I started following this guy, and I listened to his podcast episode on Barbell Shrugged. They were kind of talking about CrossFit. And he said something along the lines of; he hates that when his clients talk sht about CrossFit. Because he’s like; where do you think it’s going to go? Do you think you're just going to talk sht about it and it’s going to disappear? It is here to stay. And just so you know, Bachelor is here to stay. And you can hate it, because that’s 100% fair. And you're right. But you might as well just accept it. My husband tried to accept it this past week. He found out that my sister-in-law and I just make fun of it the whole time we watch it. He was like; oh, I didn’t know you made fun of it. I’ll watch it. I thought it was serious. I’m like, of course it’s not serious. I’m looking into the bright white light of snow here in Colorado. Because it just keeps snowing. It just keeps goddamn snowing. It’s really not that bad. There’s probably a quarter of an inch {laughs} on the ground. And it’s melting fast. But I think it’s supposed to snow tonight, and then again on Saturday, and then again on Sunday. {British accent} Bullsht, bullsht, bullsh*t. Name that movie. Forgetting Sarah Marshall, duh. I have to take photos. I have to do some photos for a post tomorrow morning. And it’s supposed to be f*cking snowing outside. Which isn’t great for the outfit I have planned. This is why I need to travel more often. To be able to get photos done. Because Colorado is just not working for me. Speaking of travel. I just got back from sunny Phoenix. It was lovely. It was just lovely. Phoenix is the best. I preface that by saying I have not been there in the summer. That’s obviously not the best time to travel there. And even the people who love summer, and love heat, do not like summer heat in Phoenix. Man, that was a terrible sentence. So, I worked with Visit Phoenix to come out to Phoenix for a little weekend spa getaway with my husband. So we wanted to celebrate Valentine’s Day not on a Wednesday, not in freezing cold Colorado. And I didn’t want to go to restaurants. And I cook every night anyway. So nothing feels ultra special. But, that Wednesday, that Valentine’s Day, my husband did come home with a gluten free cupcake. And he was kind of later, because he went and got a haircut after work. So I was just hanging out at the house. And I made him cookies and cut them in heart shapes. So he got me a cupcake, and I got him cookies. He just knows the way to my heart. I was PMSing a couple of weeks ago, and I think even talked about it on the podcast. He came home with two gluten free cupcakes. He is the best. He keeps learning all these husband ways, and crushing them. So anyway. We wanted to celebrate Valentine’s Day in some place warm. Some place close that we could leave on a Friday, come back home Sunday, and it’s an easy flight. And Arizona is the way to go. It’s just the best. Phoenix is awesome. So we got to Phoenix. We went straight to this spa. And it’s the Aji spa. I kept calling it “Auhi”, but people were like; yeah, that’s not the word. Cool, Juli. You're the worst. But it was at the Sheridan Grande at Wild Horse Pass. And this hotel is gigantic. This resort, I guess. It has 36 holes. This crazy, I don’t know, triple A five diamond whatever any of those high awards mean restaurant. It’s called Kai restaurant. And it’s crazy hard to get into. And I really want to go back and go to that, because I didn’t get to go. But we went to the spa. And if you're ever in Phoenix, and you're looking for a spa treatment with your husband, or with your significant other, your lover, whatever. Go to this spa. Because I went to two different spas, and the other one I think is great for girlfriends. This one I think was perfect for a spa treatment with your significant other. And that’s because they have a huge outdoor area. Spa outdoor area. A huge pool, and a jacuzzi, and café that you can just eat in your robes.

I have pumpkin spice baked granola bars, and I have Mexican pumpkin soup. So I’m obviously a little obsessed with pumpkin. Because I have another pumpkin recipe coming next week. A little annoying, but it’s ok, ok? Because it’s really delicious. Pumpkin spice granola bars are delish, but the Mexican pumpkin soup you need to go make right now. And don’t use canned pumpkin. Don’t. I’m telling you, don’t do it. Use a real roasted pumpkin. I promise you, it is worth the extra effort. And it’s really no effort; you cut the pumpkin in half and you bake it. It’s literally the easiest thing ever. And then I have a beauty and makeup products post. I’m talking about my recent skincare routine. I’m talking about my favorite products. And I have a video. Which, videos make everything more fun, right? Right. And then I’m talking about New Years’ Eve. I know it’s super early, but wait. Just, hear me out. I’m not super excited about Thanksgiving. Because I’ve already made all the Thanksgiving food for you guys. So I’m not that excited about it. Christmas this year, we are not really celebrating because we’re going to go to Mexico for New Years’. Ok, so I’m not really even caring about Thanksgiving and Christmas. They’re not on my radar.
