 Often, we find that life becomes a struggle between reason and emotion, and when the latter triumphs, we find that our vision becomes clouded by the false realities we create for ourselves. Bhaja Govindam constantly reminds us how strong a hold our desires are. Desires are extremely hard to give up. We think we're enjoying our indulgences, but it actually ends up hurting us. Especially if we don't have discipline. The fine balance is very hard to maintain as well. It's like flipping a coin where one side is enjoyment and the other is suffering. We're actually holding on to suffering.

From death lead us to immortality.  We’ve seen death as an end, but now, we may take this further and really question what the “end” is?  We learn that nothing really ends, it just changes into something else, it transforms. Therefore, death is not an end – it is just a concluding of one phase and the beginning of another. It means we continue – our souls continue. The constant changing bring upon its own strains. In the changing there is fear, restlessness, strain. In the changeless, there is peace, stableness. Therefore, we plead “from the changing lead us to the changeless”. We meditate to become aware of the changeless and to recognize the changes in and amongst all the changing. Meditate to nurture the goodness and dispel the darkness – to replace negativities with nobilities. Allow the goodness to flourish. Divinity is seen as goodness. Let this goodness enrich you, and invoke within you hearts all the noble virtues and values. In verse 20 of Bhaja Govindam, we learn that we need to study the Bhagavad Gita and to workship Lord Krishnaso that we can gracefully accept death when it comes - we could possibly go beyond death.  Symbolically, the flow of the Ganga represents the flow of knowledge and devotion. To take a sip of that devotion is what we are urged to do. Workship is described in the Gita as to serve mankind. Service is true worship.
