He was on his bicycle in Maine when an accident claimed his life. In tribute, I’m replaying a “Memory Lane” interview with Frank from two years ago.  Also, Frank regularly reviewed the work of other writers for KUAC and Northern Soundings. Before he left for Maine he shared his admiration for Jesse McCarthy’s Who Will Pay Reparations on My Soul.

Alaskan editors, authors and  writers discuss the role anthologies have had in introducing Alaska to Alaskans and the world.  And the publishing and reprinting writers' work is also addressed. Participants:•	Frank Soos (Under Northern Lights:  Writers and Artists View the Alaskan Landscape)  is  Alaska State Writer Laureate,  Professor Emeritus of English at University of Alaska Fairbanks and author of Bamboo Fly Rod Suite.  •	Marybeth Holleman (Crosscurrents North: Alaskans on the Environment) is author of  The Heart of the Sound and Among Wolves•	Bill Sherwonit (Denali: A Literary Anthology; Alaska Ascents; and Travelers' Tales Alaska)  is a writing instructor and  author of numerous books including Animal Stories, Changing Paths, and Living with Wildness•	Lifelong Alaskan Wayne Mergler (The Last New Land : Stories of Alaska, Past and Present) is a retired English teacher and a former columnist of the Anchorage Daily News. •	Cheryl Lovegreen (Anchorage Remembers: A Century of Tales) has been an Alaskan for forty-seven years and a member of 49 Writers for six years. Robin McLean's Reptile House is winner of the BOA Editions Fiction Prize.  The story collection is inhabited by killers and thieves, astronauts and cave explorers, moose hunters and country club ladies, all seeking some exit toward –better dreams.  Robin McLean was a lawyer and then a potter for 15 years in the woods of Alaska before receiving her MFA at U Mass Amherst in Massachusetts. She currently teaches at Clark University.  Joining Robin McLean is UAF professor emeritus and Alaska State Writer Laureate Frank Soos.  He is author of Unified Field Theory, the book Bamboo Fly Rod Suite: Reflections on Fishing and the Geography of Grace and co-editor with Kesler Woodward of Under Northern Lights: Artists and Writers on the Alaskan Landscape. At this event he reads a personal essay, “Another Type of Loneliness”.
