We had a great time hosting, Dr. Andrea Geurin, who is the Director of the Institute for Sport Business at Loughborough, to talk about her experiences working abroad and the various differences in higher education across different systems. We talked about summers being off (or not off!), annual leave, teaching loads, semester length differences, tenure, sabbatical options, student advising, higher education bureaucracy, grading, and much more!

Doctoral student, Tiao Hu, joined the podcast to provide her perspective of choosing and pursuing a PhD as an international student. We talked about her process choosing a PhD program. Then we talked about the challenges for international students in finding housing, securing a job, reviewing school districts for children, and creating a social network. Then we talked about potential higher education barriers, such as choosing an advisor and registering for courses. We finished our discussion talking about how her PhD program has been well suited to help her, areas of weakness, and upcoming job search.

PhD students Siena Morgan (Loughborough University London) and Chelsey Taylor (Swinburne University of Technology) joined as guests to talk about their experience as part-time doctoral students. They each shared their background and other duties they are completing while doing doctoral work, decision process to go part-time, their program's reaction to their decision, program support and structure challenges for being a part-time student, and potential negatives/positives to being part-time.

Dr. Richard Lapchick at UCF and Director of Institute for Sport &amp; Social Justice joined the podcast! Our discussion focused on his work within diversity in sport. We started off with discussing his initial motivation and ongoing history fighting for racial and gender equality. Then we talked about how sport organizations have performed on their racial and gender report card since its inception, hiring practices, and his work with the center. A bunch of great stories in this one!

Dr. Jennifer Hoffman at the University of Washington joined us to talk about NIL. We discussed historical context of NIL, recent changes, and made some predictions on upcoming NIL implications within college sport.

Dr. Adam Cohen returned to talk about sports gambling! We talked about the changes within the sport gambling industry since PASPA was overturned, various sports gambling entities (business, platforms, consumers), DFS, analytics, growth potential for women's sports, tastemakers, governance, and customer promotions. We also talked about the potential of sports gambling as a academic growth area, with likely uptick coming for doc students, dedicated journal, grants/consultant opportunities. We capped it off by throwing out some baseball bets (for fun!).

Our 2021 Earle F. Zeigler Lecture Award Winner joined us! Dr. Marlene Dixon talked about her Zeigler lecture, being the first to do it virtually, past Zeigler lectures, reflecting on her career, positions, working both sides of the Longhorns-Aggie rivalry, and what's to come. She also had some fun by refusing to confirm or deny the secret Zeigler award winner gathering and voting for Vail, CO as a future NASSM Conference location.
