Today I sit with Chris Voss who helps us understand what Negotiations really are and how you can’t negotiate successfully without being able to establish a relationship first.  In fact, according to Chris, It’s the foundation of a good negotiation. While good business negotiation skills can mean life or death to a company, Chris' negotiations literally were life and death situations. You see, Chris was the lead international kidnapping negotiator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as the FBI’s hostage negotiation representative for the National Security Council’s Hostage Working Group.   Chris is best known known world-wide as the author of the book “Never Split the difference”, which in my humble opinion is the best book on negotiating that I have read to date. I’ve probably read around 5 or 6 others. These days he is the CEO of The Black Swan Group where he helps business understand what it truly means to negotiate for success. During our conversation Chris helps us understand what a negotiation really is, the importance that listening makes, The “FM” DJ voice” and a variety of other “tells” people give when they go into a negotiation. Chris Voss: You Can't Have a Good Negotiation Without a Good Relationship

He's a husband to an amazing woman - who he met the first day of law school - and he's someone who prizes his relationships with his family and friends above all else.  He's a lawyer, tech entrepreneur and the co-founder of Lawfty. He is in the business of turning legal advertising into a science. He's someone who believes that work should be fun, but that fun is not a substitute for hard work. Richheimer is an eternal optimist, exercise enthusiast and aspiring vegan (who loves buffalo wings, which is a problem). He's worked as an investment banker, political operative and a lawyer. Richheimer says he stopped "working" the day he became an entrepreneur, and he plans to spend the rest of his life collaborating with smart people to build cool businesses.

He brings 20 seasons of managerial experience across professional baseball to Long Island, having amassed a 1,127-1,077 overall record (.511 winning percentage). In that time, the Oregon native has led his teams to six Division Championships and three League Championships. Additionally, he was named the 2014 Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year after guiding the Las Vegas 51’s (AAA, Mets) to a league-best 81-63 record.   Prior to his coaching career, Backman enjoyed a 14-year Major League playing career. Nine of those seasons (1980-88) were spent played with the New York Mets, where he helped lead the team to a World Series Championship in 1986. That same year he was again teamed with Gary Busey - and Tom Berenger - in the Navy comedy Chasers (1994), directed by Dennis Hopper. His most prized - and chilling - role, though, is that of Peter Foley the copycat serial killer in the psychological thriller Copycat (1995). The film also starred Sigourney Weaver, Dermot Mulroney, and jazz musician Harry Connick Jr.. He appeared with Andrew McCarthy and John Stockwell in Stag (1997), and made his way towards the millennium opposite Gabriel Byrne in the World War II drama The Brylcreem Boys (1998). McNamara's first feature film role was in acclaimed cult horror director Dario Argento's slasher classic, Opera (1987). But don't fear: the actor is actually a kind spiritualist and an avid animal rights activist, putting much time, energy, and money into the plight of the dolphins and small whales off the shores of Japan. In addition McNamara involves himself in animal rescue in general, Kundalini, and Yoga! McNamara was the host of "Animal Intervention" on National Geographic in 2012.

In his early teen years, his first job was as a dishwasher in nightclubs, in his late teens, he learned how to work the door at night clubs, he considered this, one of his greatest educations in life. In the normal world his two loves were boxing and soccer, which kept him fit and mostly out of trouble. In 1988 he took an adventure to Los Angeles California and found himself stumbling into an acting class, soon after into the entertainment industry. He loved old movies and as time passed he found himself to be fortunate enough to work and become friends with some movie legends like Robert Loggia, Anthony Quinn, Don Rickles and many others. He has learned many lessons since. He has lived between New York and LA for 28 years and his grandfather’s words still ring true to him, “respect your true friends and never double cross your partner”. Mandylor is known for his roles in Virtuoso, Saw V and Saw VI. His newest venture is Cliffs of Freedom which was released in early March of 2019. For two decades, Karen Duffy —New York Times bestselling author, former MTV VJ, Revlon model, and actress— has managed to live an enriching life despite living in a state of constant pain. Duffy has sarcoidosis, a disorder that causes the growth of inflammatory cells on different organs of the body. In her case, her sarcoidosis is located in her brain, causing her unimaginable pain. She is a certified hospital chaplain, a former Coney Island Mermaid Queen, one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" in 1993, and winner of the Ernest Borgnine Look-Alike Contest. By 1989, Duffy was modeling and appearing in television commercials. She was a VJ for MTV in the early 1990s, under the name "Duff." She had small roles in a handful of films including Dumb and Dumber and Blank Check, and by 1995 was working as a correspondent for documentary filmmaker Michael Moore on his television shows TV Nation and The Awful Truth. She also was a Revlon "Charlie Girl" as well as the face of Almay Cosmetics, and co-hosted the pay-per-view television event, Elvis: The Tribute from the Memphis Pyramid in 1994 with Kris Kristofferson. In 2006, Duffy hosted House of Tiny Terrors on TLC. On July 7, 2007, she appeared on the Live Earth telecast on the Bravo Channel as a co-host at Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey. In 2008, Duffy began working with New York City's NYC Media on a series of emergency preparedness videos. The videos, which mimic the style of the network TV show Secrets of New York, help raise awareness of the perils of natural disasters and preventative actions families should take to prepare for them. During this conversation, Duffy talks with Connors about her career but also how she deals with fighting through pain every single day saying that both happiness and chronic pain can coexist.
