This week’s show (and the first podcast in ages, for which we are truly and humbly sorry) comes to you from the Science Museum in London’s South Kensington, and was broadcast both live on Resonance FM and down a 27 foot-long loudspeaker from 1929. Lovingly restored by Aleksander Kolkowski and his team from the original design by Roderick Denman, today’s hour-long special features a carefully curated horn-friendly playlist designed to show the biggest loudspeaker in Britain in it’s most flattering light- and is therefore choc-full of field recordings, radiophonic curiosities, and – of course – foghorns. exactly like ittlebird, i first tuned in because of matt berry&#39;s serious side ( as seen on charlie brooker&#39;s screenwipe) he loves music in a way that inspires musicians. and then i fell in love with everything about jonny&#39;s wonderful show. there is a whole world of music that i was surprised to discover. jonny trunk has created a show that is so informative and entertaining; you don&#39;t have to be a music boffin (like me) to be absolutely enriched. do yourself a favor and give it a try. i&#39;ve heard so much weird and wonderful music on this show that i want to spread the love and gratitude i feel. to everyone that worked to bring this show to life: good job!  gimme more, please!        cheers, from washington state (the other washington)

littlebird gets it right on!

Initially, I just downloaded the Matt Berry and Garth Marenghi episodes. I was hooked! Fantastic music I&#39;d never heard. Usually we don&#39;t pay attention to soundtracks, but without them movies and television would be nothing and completely boring. I have a new appreciation for them. 

If they don&#39;t post more soon, I may reschedule my Saturday to listen live.

Soundtracks, library music and other dirty smut with Jonny Trunk. Today he’s joined by Fiona Staniland, Morricone fan and now artist interpreting the wordless work of the maestro. Over the last year Fiona has been developing a show simply called “Morricone In Love” where, backed by her quintet (and the original films), performs the stunning music written for the underground Giallo movies of the 1968 – 1972 period. Fiona also treated us to a live performance of a couple of her favourites in anticpation of her sold-out show at Richmix in Bethnal Green Rd. And all this in spite of Robin and Kacper’s failed attempt got Jonny’s ancient Copycat echo machine working and provide the lady with some reverb. It’s probably still in the Resonance skip if anyone wants it…

We’re more than delighted to have it, partly because we weren’t terribly good at archiving ourselves back then, but mostly because at the time Kev was knee-deep in a project unearthing long-lost gems from deep within the vaults of the former Children’s Television Workshop. Yes, this week it’s all about Sesame Street and Kev brings us a selection full to bursting with tracks that you simply haven’t heard. The seven-minute performance of ‘Superstition’ is worth it alone, but that’s barely the tip of the iceberg. We’ve given you Sesame Street specials on these podcast pages before, but THIS is the original and the material here is largely unreleased. Indeed Robin The Fog was so excited that he had to sit down for a week…
