Are You a Christian?

Hey friends! On today's episode, we are going to focus on Galatians 1 and 2. And I really want to focus on challenging you to do an inner inventory of your faith. Ask yourself, "am I blending my faith with the world?" In other words, are you allowing yourself to blend or bend your faith to allow things in that are not righteous and of God? Is your source of faith and morality the one True God? Or do you allow the voices of culture, celebrities, and the world convince you that certain things are "ok"?

Why Is Jesus Dying On The Cross Important?

*Correction: There were 6 deaths in the tragedy in Nashville, not 9 like stated on the episode.   Hey friends. This week has been a dark one with the tragedy in Nashville. It has brought the question "why God?" And honestly, I can't really answer that for you. But, I can tell you what I have learned...and that is this world is temporary. And it's time we start blaming evil and darkness for the evil and darkness in the world. God has a plan. We may not understand it. It sometimes is an unimaginably painful plan. But, this world is temporary and it is not our forever home. And friendly reminder, evil might look like it wins here on earth, but they absolutely lose in the very end!

Hey friends! I am feeling better and back with another episode for you! On today's episode, we are going to dive into what mercy means. And my goal today is to help you grow your perspective on mercy and grace. How God's mercy is big enough to cover any size of sin, not just yours. I see it so many times where "Christians" live thinking their sin isn't as bad or wicked as someone else's sin to the point where it can make unbelievers feel that God's mercy isn't big enough for their sin. That someone they are too far gone and have done too many bad things to be saved. But that is totally not true! So I want to dive into mercy today, and help us remember that God's mercy isn't just for a select few with "minor sins", but it's for ALL who call on the name of Jesus.

We go into Proverbs 2, Ephesians 4, and Hebrews 5 and challenge ourselves to grow our perspective of the Bible and it's true purpose: to grow our faith and help us become better teachers of the gospel so we can disciple others well.

Today, we are in Mark 14, when Jesus goes to the garden of Gethsemane. This is where He is full of sorrow and deep distress, to the point of crying tears of blood. What could have caused Jesus to feel such deep sorrow? Perhaps you are feeling deep sorrow, too. This episode of a reminder of two things: 1) Jesus went through every joy and pain and sorrow that you will go through in life. He was fully God but, also, fully human. He felt joy and pain. And this passage is a reminder of that. Our lives won't be pain free because Jesus' life wasn't pain free. 2) We put a lot of focus on the temporary. But I want to remind you that this world and this body is temporary. The pain and sorrow you are going through, even if it feels like it has lasted an eternity, is, in fact, temporary. It will eventually end. And, as believers, we need to remember that our pain here is valid, but we have a promise of something so much more beautiful that this world: heaven!! Fear of Failure

Can you think of one time in your life you found yourself upset or frustrated because something didn’t quite pan out the way you intended? The end results didn’t match up to your timeline. Things aren’t going the way you want them to. They’re not going fast enough. There are more obstacles in your way than you anticipated. You feel like it's constantly taking 2 steps forward, one step back kind of a thing. sometimes all we feel is that God is telling us no. No- not right now. No- you’re not ready. No- just be patient. And right now, I feel like we are hearing even more No’s...no you can’t go back to work yet...no you can’t leave your home yet...no we are not done with this quarantine...and even I find myself getting frustrated at times. Frustration things are getting better faster.God I’m frustrated. You keep telling us no. Things are moving fast enough. This is not matching up with my timeline. MY timeline. Fix things on MY timeline. Make things happen on MY timeline...yet I have to self reflect. Is MY timeline always the perfect one? No. God’s timeline is perfect. Every single time it is perfect. He knows the ending. I should be BLINDLY trusting of this God...shouldn’t I? Continue to grow in God, grow your faith. I wanted to make sure I titled this podcast correctly, focusing on growing our confidence and not how we are lacking confidence. Our thoughts are so powerful and we can easily allow them to take full control of us to the point we don’t even recognize we have lost control of them. We can easily focus on how much confidence we are lacking or missing and only entertaining the negative option as our only option. Are you going to choose thoughts that are full of limiting beliefs about yourself? ? OR are you going to choose the thoughts that are grounded with a growth mindset? You have the power to chose to stay stuck feeling you don't have any confidence or you can choose to get back up and take your confidence back! Peace Isn’t Happiness

We are currently living in a society where we are allowed any and all opinions. And while we might have our freedom of speech, social media has allowed us to become people who act braver behind a keyboard without any negative repercussions of our actions. What does the Bible say about our actions as Christians? What should we be doing and saying in a secular world? What is the most powerful weapon we have at our disposal every day against these rude comments, negative opinions, and condescending words from strangers? Our Words are Powerful

Do you ever have those moments where you are feeling called to do something? There is a little voice inside of you that is urging to just take the leap of faith. Just step out in to the unknown. Everything will be ok. Just do it. See what it’s all about!  BUT – then our brain takes over. The “rational” part of our brain starts to create a list of all the reasons why it’s a bad idea, why it won’t work, you’re not qualified, you don’t even know where to start. And we come the conclusion that we have to say no. We aren’t meant to walk down that journey because of XYZ. Does this sound a bit familiar when it comes to your life? Have you been staying in your comfort zone instead of listening to God’s calling on your life? What would you life be like if we followed God with all of our heart, all of our faith, all of our truth ALL THE TIME? You were made for so much more! Are you a Doer or a Hearer?

Why was I so good just a few weeks ago and now I am moments I cannot hold it together? Do you feel weak? Tired? Exhausted? Maybe even frustrated? Angry? Like God we prayed?! Why isn’t it better?! Why do I still not have a job? How will we pay for our bills this month? I might kill my kids if I have to home school for the rest of the school year.  I can tell you why I’ve been the way I’ve been...It’s because I got addicted to the dark. I am consuming all the social media, all the negativity, I’m reading all of the comments on all of the articles of all the positive cases, of all the sarcastic posts about prayer and church. I am not doing a good job of guarding my heart and mind.   I would venture to say most of us have an addiction. It might not be what we typically think of when it comes to addiction: drugs, alcohol, etc. But we have the inability to stop consuming the negativity. We have an addiction with arguments on social media. We have an addiction with getting offended by a post. We have an addiction to all of the doom and gloom in the news. We have an addiction to fear, anger, frustration. I know you do, because I do.   BUT GOD. He is our healer. He is our provider and our protector. Join me in this episode and let's shift our perspective back to Him so we can once again anoint our heads with oil and have our cups overflowing with his peace once again. Addicted to the Dark

This word “essential” has been flying around more than ever before. In this new cancelled life we have been living lately, we have been stripped down to just the essentials. Our extremely busy lives of what we thought were “essential” have been slowed way down and we are finding that our essentials are. And it’s not that we didn’t love these “essentials” with our old way of living...but when all of the distractions are gone, our eyes have truly been opened to what is really important. The essentials: those things that are absolutely necessary, extremely important. We are finding out essentials again. How long have we gone storing up our riches for ourselves on this earth, instead of focusing on our riches in heaven? This quarantine has opened my eyes as it probably has yours too. Have you found yourself going back to the essentials? I cannot pretend to understand why things are happening the way they are. But I do know that we can take this time to grow closer to God. We can take this time to grow our faith. Faith grows exponentially faster in the middle of a fire than when everything is perfect. Going back to the essentials

Today I want to focus on the struggle that a lot of ladies have when it comes comparison. But putting a slightly different spin on the comparison trap. I want to instead redirect all of that energy on the outside and focus it back on ourselves. I wanted to focus on what we possess, things we are good at. Our spiritual gifts! We are too busy thinking our gifts are not good enough and everybody else’s gifts are better than our own. So we choose to not put our own energy towards unlocking the spiritual gifts God has given to us. God’s gifts are handed out everywhere! You are a product of your past experiences and those past experiences played an important role into who you are as a person today! I don't want you to change who you are in 2020. New Year, BETTER You

We are continuing our mini-series of The Lies! In this week's episode, we are tackling relationships! More specifically marriages and the feeling that our spouse should give us everything. We think they are supposed to be our source of love, validation, identity, self worth...but is that what my husband is made to do?  Feeling loved, beautiful, wanted, secure, validated, are not bad things to feel. We want to feel those, right?? You want to feel these things! The problem r husbands can make me feel...it implies he has the power to make you feel...and sister, he doesn’t have that power. He does not control your thoughts. He doesn’t control your feelings. YOU control BOTH those.   So join me today as we dive deeper into this topic. Returning to God after backsliding

Taking a break from our March series of The Lies. I tried to come up with something to keep that flow going, but God really put it on my heart to just speak peace, reassurance, and strength over all of my listeners this week.  As scary as our world has become with Covid-19, I know my God is more powerful than anything in this world. I know that my God already knew about all of this, this isn’t a surprise to him. And for some reason, knowing that He already knew about it AND He already knows what is to come, gives me a sense of calm and peace. What if we took all of our fears  unknowns and didn't factored in my own strength, but GOD’s strength, power, and knowledge??  Filter what you are consuming through the filter of God. Fix your attention on Him. Represent him well today, not by fear or anger, but by being an example of peace and kindness during this uncertain time.   I pray this episode helps you find your peace and you leave with a little more reassurance that God will continue to provide and protect His people even during these times. Reassurance for us all

Are you exhausted, momma? Have you been fighting that constant "mom guilt", comparing yourself to other parents thinking they are better parents that you? The Lie: I am not a good mom

There will always be something said or done to you that will be offensive. We cannot control offenses being done to us. But we can control how we react to them. Now- when an offense happens TO you, it’s easy to recognize. You are on the receiving end. You can feel when someone is disrespecting you. You can feel the disdain and intent to hurt your feelings. And we cannot control how the other person acts or what they say. As much as some of us want to control the actions of others, we do not possess that power. We cannot control the offense being done to us. We cannot control what was said. We cannot control what was typed in a post or comment. We cannot control what is recorded on TV that is offensive to us. BUT- you can control how you REACT to them.  Now, the world is going to tell you to strike back! If you offend me, I am going to offend you! Your belief offended me, let me tell you how my opinion is correct. You have no right to talk to me that way, let me put you in your place! You allow yourself to be full of anger, resentment, and even condescending. That does not sound very Christ-like, does it. That does not sound like something a Christain should be walking in or doing. Yet so many of us do.  Be like Christ to the people around you, whether they are offensive to you or not. What are YOUR actions and words going to produce in response to that offense? Before you post that screenshot and start “putting someone in their place”, is that post producing love and joy? What about what it will trigger your friends to start doing? Are your actions going to produce peace, patience, and kindness in the comments of your friends? If those fruits of the spirit are not going to be produced, then don’t post it. Don’t say it.   Be mindful of how you react to offenses. Make it a point to produce the fruits of the spirit in all aspects of your life! Practice this and you will be absolutely amazed with how your perspective and outlook on the world changes. Taking Offense

Have you been allowing your thoughts to cause so much chaos in your mind that you have been adding unnecessary worry and fear to your day? I see if all over my social media newsfeed. Yes, even I have my moments where thinking about the unknown and where we will be in the next few months gives me anxiety and stress.  Will school start again? Will we have to do homeschool again? It’s honestly exhausting and all of these questions begin to create fear and anxiety because frankly, we know none of these answers right now.  Fear was made to save your life. Now, your fear holds you back from trusting God. And many of us have the habit of creating fear when it’s not even necessary!  Fear is one of the strongest weapons the enemy has against us. Fear causes anxiety and stress. Fear causes lack of action. Fear causes paralysis in our faith.  This is a challenge for a perspective shift in our minds and hearts, ladies. We have formed a habit of adding excess worry to our day when there isn’t a need for it. The world tells you to fear. But, as a child of God, you are not of the world. Today, I challenge you to take back control of your thoughts that are running wild right now. Any thoughts about the future that are bringing in fear into today are not necessary. Let God work through those thoughts, he transforms you from the inside out. If He is for us, then who shall I fear?
