How did an article in the Entertainment Report turn into one of the greatest calls Preston &amp; Steve have ever received?  Honestly, we aren’t quite sure either, but we are going try to unpack this segment of our show.  As Preston went through the daily Entertainment Report, he began to read that a few of Lizzo’s ex backup dancers are suing for sexual harassment charges. One dancer says that Lizzo pressured her to touch a nude performer at a club in Amsterdam. The lawsuit details different features of the bar, including its banana theme and nudity. None of it has been confirmed.  That was until Mike called in to share that he had been to that bar in Amsterdam. He went on to give many details, maybe a few too many details, about “Bananenbar”.  He explained that the strip bar was exactly how the women in the case explained it: lots of nudity, lots of drinking, and lots of bananas. He and his brothers were in town to see a Ween concert, but boy, did they see a lot more than that.  For your sake, we won’t get into the nitty gritty details. We at The Preston &amp; Steve Show got to talk to one of the bands set to be at the always-glorious MMRBQ and Preston’s favorite modern band in the world: Larkin Poe!  Rebecca and Megan Lovell’s live performance in the studio this past fall still sticks with us, mainly because that is when they debuted their song “Strike Gold.” Our assistant producer Connor recently saw them live, and he loved the show. Rebecca and Megan had a lot of fun at it as well. They cannot wait to come back to Philadelphia, especially in September for the MMRBQ.  Having come up in the bluegrass scene, the sisters love playing festivals. There is a lot of collaboration and jamming at bluegrass festivals, which is a sight you don’t often see with rock ones. However, we and the sisters hope that can change with the MMRBQ. Seeing Rebecca sing with Billy Idol would be quite a sight, but we want to see her harmonize the Safelite jingle with Steve and Casey while Preston plays drums.  We did get to talk with the sisters about their most recent album, Blood Harmony. Preston found that the album has a much larger sound compared to the previous ones, and according to Rebecca, that’s ironically from stripping down the music. By being on the road, Larkin Poe has gotten comfortable as a four-piece band, which translated into the studio with them avoiding the layering of guitars and vocals on Blood Harmony.  It turns out, the sisters have a very close relationship with Elvis Costello. They met at a musical event, and he has since become a great mentor to them. He was the one who taught them not to simplify themselves or confine their music to a box. He believes that artists should curate the art they are passionate about, and, in turn, fans will respond with love.  Megan and Rebecca recently made their television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Preston was very happy about one of their song choices. They played “Bad Spell,” a song he describes as “stanky.” That is intended as a compliment!  The sisters are also close to WMMR’s resident vampire Jacky Bam Bam. He has their personal cell numbers, and they can confirm what we have always known about him. They called him “one of the most precious of all the rock ‘n roll angels.”  Thanks to Rebecca and Megan for having a chat with us. We look forward to seeing them rock the stage at MMRBQ in September!

What do CaseyBoy and Brandon Marsh have in common? They both have a fear of sharks. Well, not so much a fear, more of a respect. The open water is where the sharks live and there’s no reason to visit them home. That conversation was one of the many highlights of our Spring Training conversation with the Phillies Outfielder. First and foremost, we talked about last season. Brandon said that some of his best moments of his life spent on the baseball field happened last fall. This team wants to run October back. (woo!) Preston found a beautiful way to lead that into a hair conversation. We were all confused at first, but Preston was courageous enough to admit it. Through the laughter, Brandon sniffed a couple of stands and confirmed that it is clean today and smells lovely! What was it like for Brandon to join the Phillies at the deadline? He was super nervous because he only knew one player. But that went away quickly. He’s now a guy from Georgia who uses the word “jawn”. Back to the fear of sea animals. Casey shared his plan to eradicate sharks by lure them in with possums that have grenades inside them. Brandon’s on board. What about gators? Same. He saw mini gators while playing mini golf. Ready to love Brandon Marsh even more? He grew up as a Braves fan, but told us how much he loved hitting a homer against them. Hawaiian shirts are a regular fixture of Charlie Manuel’s wardrobe. They fit his vibe perfectly since he spends much of his year in Florida. It was during our conversation with the World Series winning Manager that he and his wife, Missy, argue over colors. He prefers the monochrome color pallets, while she likes to pick out brighter patterns for him to wear. That’s where our conversation with Charlie at Phillies Spring Training begin. He’s been in Clearwater since Pitchers and Catchers reported to the facility. We flashed back to the evolution of Spring Training. Charlie’s first major league camp was in 1968, and back then, it was intended for getting all players the out-of-shape players game ready again. Charlie recalled having to go to the hospital during his first camp. Conditioning is a lot lighter nowadays. Then there was the Tony Bennett story. After a game in Toronto, Charlie met Tony in a hotel elevator. He blurted out, “Hey Tony Bennett, sing us a song.” Tony’s reaction – and the way Charlie recalled it – was hilarious. Second to that story is the time that Charlie met Julie Andrews. To be fair, it was made better by the alternate ending that Steve Morrison imagined. So what else is Charlie up to once the season starts? He visits PA affiliates in the summer and Florida affiliates during other points of the year. A lot of guys want to talk to him about baseball and aren’t intimidated by him. He is a self-proclaimed top scout in the league. If you’re looking for a tip, Charlie told us that fans should be excited about Johan Rojas in Reading and the younger players currently in the camp. Great catching up with Uncle Chuck!

Don McCloskey brought his crew in to rock the house live on MMR. He's on tour supporting the new album, The Chaos &amp; The Beauty. Catch them opening up for the It's Always Sunny Podcast this Sunday &amp; Monday at The Met, and headlining Ardmore Music Hall on October 14th.

"I wanted to make a documentary that was not about football so that anybody could sit down and watch it and enjoy it. And I wanted to make it about working class people and their love for sport, but really their love for community."  That was Rob McElhenney's goal when he created the docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham which premieres August 24th on FX. We got a sneak peek at the first episode and can confidently say, goal achieved.  By the way, he calls it football because he "doesn't want to get stabbed." The series takes an in-depth look at the ownership journey that Rob and Ryan Reynolds have embarked on with Wrexham A.F.C. Cameras catch every moment from the ZOOM meeting where the two Hollywood stars were visibly nervous pitching the fans to let them buy the team to... well, no one knows the ending... it hasn't happened yet.  When we mentioned that the docuseries is like real life Ted Lasso, Rob laughed. It wasn't at the comparison though. Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted, joined Rob and Ryan for a game a Wembley earlier this season.  The parallels between the two shows are  bountiful but Jason smugly pointed out that he knows how his will end each season. These guys are leaving their entire series to fate. D'oh!  It's all well and cool that the press reviews of Welcome to Wrexham are all glowing, but how are the fans receiving it? "We did  a bunch of screenings for the people of the town and it went over really well. There were so many laughs and tears. We really wanted to get it right for them."

Valerie Bertinelli joined The Preston &amp; Steve Show on Thursday morning to discuss her new memoir, Enough Already.  Preston immediately took the opportunity to compliment her son's spectacular performance at the MMR*B*Q 2021. "Awww, thank you, I couldn't be more proud of him!" Valerie responded. She continued to boast about his success and how relived she was by the welcoming reception Wolfie received from the rock 'n roll community after pouring his heart into his work. "He was nominated for a Grammy for Christ sake!"  Her new book goes deep into details of their marriage and the relationship they built after it ended. "We had a lot of peace with each other, we enjoyed each other's company again... I felt more of a love for his soul, for his kindness, for the true person that Ed was when he wasn't drinking and doing drugs. He was really a lovely, lovely human when he wasn't in pain."   Cooking is another big part of her life now. She has struggled with Emotional Eating for years and continues to find a healthy balance for herself and to share with anyone who may have the similar issues. Hosting a baking show can't make that easy, but damn is it fun. Preston worked in a shoutout for the littlest member of the P&amp;S Family, Nick Murphy's son, Desmond, who has formed a serious crush on Valerie as the host of his favorite show, Kids Baking Championship.  Same Des, same.  "Awww, please give him a kiss for me." His foundation, Montana Pool Service, builds world-class skateparks and educates younger generations on the sport.  We discuss this "part time job" he has taken on helping the community and how skateboarding has connected him to people throughout different points in his life.  Jeff shared a behind the scenes peek into the Pearl Jam world as well: using the Beatles documentary series as a kickoff to talking about how PJ spends their time in the recording studio.  We learned about how the bassist listens to new music (Eddie's new single just happened to be the latest new song he's heard). And, If you are curious about tour rumors, we got a little insight into the band's plans for 2022 and beyond. Oh, and Ben Simmons? Jeff has some thoughts on that situation. We talked to the director and friend of the show from the set of Clerks III filming right now in Jersey. He talked about his characters and storylines being an extension of his own life - with a little twist.
