We’ve grown up with a transient lifestyle, commitments can be difficult for us to make. This comes from the society and culture we third culture kids often find ourselves in. We live in international communities where people rarely stay for more than a couple of years. We are constantly saying “goodbye.” We’d rather date multiple people at once because it’s much easier and more thrilling than just seeing one person. We’d rather tweet or post on Facebook with indirect hints how angry we are with someone than directly confronting them because we won’t have to go through the bullshit couples do. We’re all playing these games just to see who would climb the ladder the highest and win.

Born and raised in Nairobi, Msafiri has been able to take us on multiple journeys through his mediums of storytelling for the new and ever learning digital African creative. His work through collaborative ventures in and out of East African keep pushing the African narratives to new spaces and heights. During our conversation, we discussed the importance of how he reinvented himself, constantly sought out mentorship and how he developed the intestinal fortitude to chase what was his, regardless of the circumstances. Instagram, in particular has made everyone so accessible and really broken down barriers in terms of contacting your favorite chef, asking the opinion of a great stylist – it’s all at your fingertips. Look, you're probably going to use social media to research your online dating matches anyways, so if you like what you see, going straight for the DM just skips a step. But take caution, for this move isn't as simple as it seems: People are sensitive about their DMs, and sliding requires that your moves be smooth, so it demands a little more effort than just a double-tap or swipe right.

Birthdays are an incredible milestone. The concepts of birthdays has changed dramatically as we have become adults. We investigate this evolution and discuss how birthdays in adulthood carry such a different meaning. Children love a good surprise and gifts, and of course, those are 2 things you get on your birthday as a child. Also, children tend to have parties that are exciting, lots of fun and their friends and family are all invited. I think as an adult a little bit of that shine rubs off unless you're talking about a BIG birthday such as 21, 40, 60, etc. Some adults live alone with limited friends and family so be default the excitement is less, the parties are smaller and the gifts are fewer
