The Steelers have hopefully broken the West Coast jinx, by winning a game west of the Mississippi in which they were favored to win.While Duck Hodges wasn't lights-out in this contest he was a gamer, going 16/19 for 152 yards and a TD.Diontae Johnson hauled in 4 completions for 60 yards and a TD, but the icing on the cake was his 87 yard punt return for a TD, the longest such TD-punt return in Steelers history!Joe Haden led the team with two interceptions, including his second game-ender with 0:48 seconds left in the game.  TJ Watt used some chicanery to entice Murray into an ill-fated toss into the end zone which TJ promptly picked off. Antonio Brown  has been in existential crisis since at least last summer, starting with his complaint that he hasn’t been allowed to express himself. AB held a Twitter Q&amp;A on February 16.  Unless you are AB’s therapist, you’ll need a cryptographer to figure out what he said, but we try to decipher it. He referenced Ben’s “owner mentality”, his seeming impunity from criticism even as he’s criticizing teammates for their play. Zero point zero..I have notified your local draft board and told them that you are eligible for military service…”Whaddya say about this 33-3 drubbing?  NO MATTER WHAT the Steelers do, it ends up in futility in the hands of the inscrutable genius of Bill Belichick.Three silver linings:The Steelers won the coin tossChris Boswell hit his sole FG attempt from 19 yardsJordan Berry was moneyThis game was a reversion back to the mean, proving that last year’s victory sat two standard deviations from the top of the bell curve.James Conner busted a couple of runs, but ultimately this running “attack” sputtered with 32 yards. Worse, the Steelers had four opportunities to gain a first down with one yard to go and went oh-fur.The passing game?  Try as he might, Ben couldn’t catch the passes for his receivers. One might think that Donte Moncrief was secretly traded to the Patriots as he proceeded to dropped three passes (one in the end zone). Ben Roethlisberger placed a beautiful ball in James Washington’s hands for what we hope to be his weekly 45 yard reception.We assumed JuJu Smith-Schuster would be blanketed by two Patriot defenders all night, but he managed to pull in six of his eight targets for 78 yards. We were mystified why Vance McDonald wasn’t even targeted until 1:22 LEFT IN THE GAME!! Defensively, this looked like every other game we’ve played against the Pats where we remove coverage from the middle of the field to allow Tom Brady easy access to his 5’2” receivers and an unimpeded lane to many, many additional yards after catch.  Kameron Kelly may have impressed in the pre-season, but he ain’t ready for prime time.  We’re still waiting on Bud Dupree.  He spent most of the game lost between the pectoral muscles of Isaiah Winn.Well, we get the Seattle Seahawks at home next week. Duck Hodges fell to Earth after a 3-0 start throwing 23 for 38 for 202 yard and 4 INTs. He completed only 5 of 11 of his passes over 10 yards, with three of those being intercepted.  The O-line gave up 4 sacks as the Bills, not fearful of Duck's wing strength loaded the box.James Connor, in his return from injury managed 42 yards on 8 carries.  Why he didn't get more carries is a mystery for the ages. Meanwhile James Washington managed to pull in 5 catches for 83 yards while Deontae Johnson was 5 for 62 yards.  The Steeler defense continued its domination giving up only 261 yards. It's main competition was its own offense and special teams who left the D on the field too long and with its back up against the wall.TJ Watt continues to make his case for Defensive Player of the Year with 1/2 sack and another forced fumble. With memories of Le’Veon and AB fading into the sunset, the trolls have turned their vitriol on the last remaining Steeler lightning rod - Ben Roethlisberger.    Josh Harris continues to get more than his 15 minutes of fame, solely on the basis of his 10 minutes playing for the Steelers, claiming that Ben intentionally fumbled.  Well enough of this balderdash. Finally someone stands up to this wannabe and calls him out. It’s no less that Maurkice Pouncey’s brother Mike who asks the question, “Did this guy really play for the Steelers?”. Check out the  response by Maurkice. Le'Veon isn't quite gone.  Sitting on the horizon on his way to New York, he was interviewed by Sport Illustrated and revealed, “They don’t treat you like you’re human. What I mean by that is, yeah, I’m an NFL athlete, but still, I’m a human being. So like, I still play video games. I still make music. They don’t want to, like, allow you to be yourself. If you’re a Steeler, you’re literally supposed to be playing football 24/7.” Uh.....yeah. Unsatisfying as it was to "not lose", it would be overlooking some tremendous individual defensive performances to chalk this victory up to fate.The Steeler run game was non-existent, save for a Terrell Edmunds 40 yard breakaway.  Mason Rudolph was 26/35, 191 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  A look at his passing chart would reveal an incredible focus on the ground between him and the line of scrimmage, although he did connect on one 40 yard (underthrown) bomb to James Washington (that should have gone 70 yards).The lack of passing effectiveness stole the running game, but Jaylen Samuels was 13-13 in receptions for 73 yards, while JuJu Smith-Schuster was less than ineffective, botching a reception by deflection to Kenny Moore for an interception.But, let's not lose the lead - Minkah Fitzpatrick moved like a ballerina in Swan Lake, leaping to intercept a Brian Hoyer pass at the 4 yard line and galloping 96 yards for a touchdown! Not only did Duck Hodges not kill us, but he proved to be more than a game manager once the Steelers let up on the brakes to let him hunt downfield.  Duck was 14 for 21, gaining  212 yards with 1TD and 1 INT.  He found James Washington on passes of 44, 31, with a 30 yarder for a TD.The Steelers defense was, once again, omnipotent, scoring 5 sacks, a strip sack fumble recovery and a game-sealing INT by Joe Haden.  The tandem of TJ Watt and Bud Dupree produced 2.5 sacks, while the indomitable interior defensive line led by Cam Heyward and supplemented by Javone Hargrave added 1.5 sacks.  Keith Butler &amp; Company figured out Baker Mayfield, confining him between the tackles and subjecting him to a physical interrogation that suppressed his productivity.Bennie Snell continued his pilgrimage to NFL productivity with 63 yards, followed by Jaylen Samuels’ 32 yards for a 4.6 yard/carry average.  Randy Fichtner continued with his monotonous march to predictability, but perhaps...just perhaps,initiated enough chicanery to mask this team’s lack of playmakers.
