Part II will be a deeper discussion on what the 20'somethings would like to see happen in Kaysville, as he shares his perspective. Tanner represents the upcoming generation, a group often times underrepresented yet powerful as this age group is positioned to enter the housing market, influence legislation, and ultimately define the future of politics.

Neka Roundy will go down in history as Kaysville City's first female Mayor.  Kaysville was the first city in Davis County, Utah. The City was incorporated in 1868.  140 years later, Neka broke the proverbial glass ceiling in Kaysville. In this episode, she talks about some of her accomplishments including the 200 North overpass and shares tips and advice.

Lorene is running for a second term to continue her service as a Davis County Commissioner. She feels strongly that Commissioners should be full-time and be compensated accordingly. She believes a 3 member Commission is also appropriate and in this episode, she explains her reasons why. We also discuss the roles of County Commissioners and how the County Commission works with the 15 cities in Davis County, Utah. Lorene was raised in Indiana. Her husband served in the Air Force and after being stationed at Hill for 4 years, they decided to make Kaysville their forever home.   in 2013 Lorene decided to run for Public Office. Mark Shepherd was born in Salt Lake City but grew up in Albuquerque, NM.He has lived in Clearfield for the past 23 years. Mark’s ‘non-political’ life includes being the Principal Broker for the Shepherd Real Estate Group, a local, independent real estate brokerage which he founded in 2018. His business focuses primarily on military relocation, both to and from Utah. Mark served nearly 9 years on the Clearfield Planning Commission before being elected to the City Council in 2007. After 6 years on the Council, Mark was elected as Clearfield City’s Mayor in 2013 and is now serving his 3rd term as Mayor.  Mark has served as an Honorary Commander for the 388th MXG for three years and is presently serving as the Honorary Commander for the 466th FS. He was appointed by Utah’s Governor to serve on the Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA) which has responsibility for development of Enhanced Use Lease (EUL) properties throughout Utah. He serves on the Utah Defense Alliance and on the Board of Directors for the local Air Force Association chapter. He served for two years as the Chairman of the Military Communities Council for the National League of Cities, and now serves as the Vice-Chair for the Finance, Administration and Inter-governmental Affairs (FAIR) committee.    He is a Board Member for the Utah League of Cities and Towns and is running for Davis County Commission.Mark has been married to his wife Tammie for the past 31 years. They are the parents of seven children and three grandchildren. In his “spare” time, Markwill likely be found at a Real Salt Lake soccer game, searching for his ball at one of the local golf courses or at the gun range practicing his aim. In this episode, with Jan Schuurman (owner of Rickle's Food Truck) you'll learn about faith, hope, and hard work. This is a love story that started more than  40 years ago with Rick and Jan and grew to include a trailer pulled by beloved trucks "Blue" and "Black" and friendships that will last a lifetime.   This is an excerpt from one of Nurse Jan's reports on her husband Rick Schuurman's progress. On June 6,  2019 Rick was diagnosed with Necrotizing Acute Pancreatitis. A disease affectionately renamed "Pan-Cree-a#%". They've not only endured, but they've also triumphed through their trials with a healthy sense of humor and deep love and respect for one another. Here's an excerpt from one of Nurse Jan's updates on Rick: "As we near the end of week 4 of the feeding tube, we have to get creative, even though he can’t taste anything from the tube. He is eating a little by mouth. For instance he had soup tonight. Just something simple once a day. Most of the time it’s a banana. We are looking at surgery this Friday. The surgery is called a Cystogastrostomy. Say that with your mouth full of crackers. Cystogastrostomy is a surgery to create an opening between a pancreatic pseudocyst and the stomach when the cyst is in a suitable position to be drained into the stomach. This conserves pancreatic juices that would otherwise be lost. The surgery will be about 6 hours, followed by about a week in the hospital. His nose feeding tube will be replaced with one inserted into his side. We are hoping this will take care of Pan. He has necrotizing acute pancreatitis. Pancreatic necrosis implies a permanent condition in which a portion of the pancreas loses its blood supply. We have certainly felt and appreciate all the love and concern that has been directed our way. We are still looking at a year in recovery. Jason Sanders and his wife, Dani are the owners of Annie's Diner located in the Heart of Kaysville City.  One day while eating in the diner, Jason decided that if it ever became available he would buy it and that's exactly what they did.   As new owners; they've preserved the look and feel of the diner, added new options such as a variety of freshly baked cookies and new menu items, and remodeled their conference room all resulting in a clean, fresh dining experience.  Annie's offers take-out services through GrubHub, as well as Dine in with plenty of seating available.  People line up early on Saturday mornings for their famous, freshly made scones and their ultimate secret honey-butter, using local honey. Meet the three Female Officers of the Kaysville Police Department: Sgt. Lacy Turner, Officer Lexi Benson, and Police Academy Student Noelia Sarmiento. Noelia will join the Kaysville Police Department full-time upon graduation. Sgt. Turner and Officer Benson are both dedicated officers who've committed their lives to Public Safety and Service. Sgt. Turner has received the First Responder Award, Law Enforcement Hero Award, D.A.R.E. Program Officer, and School Resource Officer,  She started "Cops Love Lemonade" which is a program that encourages the city youth to invite the Police to Lemonade Stands throughout the State these are just a few of her many contributions to the KPD.  Officer Benson is the Community Policing Officer and the Department Public Information Officer. Join me and my guest co-host, Shelley Winget as we laugh, cry and learn from Rachel Parry what unconditional love and sacrifice looks, and feels like. In this episode, Rachel, Carson's mom explains what it's like to care for a child with disabilities, and shares lessons she's learned as she's found herself through her special son.  When Carson was 16 months old, he was diagnosed with a very rare form of Congenital Muscular Dystrophy -Muscle Eye Brain Disease (MEB). It's an inherited disease. There are only between 15-20 diagnosed cases of MEB in North America. It's that rare. MEB causes Severe Migraines/Headaches, Depression, Muscle weakness, vision abnormalities, brain structure abnormalities, severe intellectual disabilities. There's no cure.  Carson can't walk or speak.  He's learned to say Maam to call for his Mother, and imitate certain sounds to communicate.  Carson is 15 years old, he has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh. His favorite song is "Splish-Splash I was taking a bath." He's protected and loved by the family dogs and adored by his classmates in school and treasured by his family at home.  In her spare time, Rachel works as a substitute teacher. She loves the children she teaches as she brings to the classroom a special ability to notice the children that need extra love and support.

Shelley and Jory Frances were married for 17 years. Together they created a million dollar company and had four beautiful children. She supported Jory through the challenges of entrepreneurship, parenting, severe depression and helped him with his political career. Shelley was Jory's rock. She providing stability, balance and unconditional love. Jory was physically and mentally abused and suffered from extreme neglect as a child and teen. He was- bounced around between relatives during most of his childhood, he was homeless in his early teens, became an emancipated minor from his biological mother and step-father at 16, and ended up begging for leftover food as he lived in a car while trying to work full time and attending high school.   Jory committed suicide on November 9, 2016.  Leaving Shelley to raise their children ages 4 to 14 years old as a single parent. Shelley has picked up the pieces of their shattered lives by being brutally honest and sharing her love and laughter with their kids.  She said, "after looking into the tear-filled eyes of our oldest son and breaking his heart with news of his father's suicide....all the rest of our potentially awkward parent-child conversations became easy really fast. I can't imagine anything worse than the news I had to share the day Jory died." This is only a glimpse into Shelley’s story....more episodes to come.
