Gratitude is the quickest, easiest and most powerful way to transform any situation, from negative energy to positive. What I Know For Sure: Joy and Resilience

And the stories that we tell ourselves about our lives have much more variation, the same event can be viewed in completely different lenses by different people. And we have much more control over what story we tell ourselves, which gives us much more ability to determine our baseline pleasure.

Our baseline pleasure and happiness is much more about the story we tell ourselves as opposed to how we're feeling in the moment.

But what is in control is how we handle those wounds of the past, how we move forward. We aren't responsible for everything that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we choose to live our future.

Many of us have had experiences that significantly shaped who we are today that were out of our control.

Our future depends on what we choose to do in the present more than anything else. And the lead indicator to becoming better is learning to view our setbacks and challenges we've had as stepping stones and learning opportunities for our future.

We are all imperfect, and we all have ways to improve, but we should all realise that we're complete, for now and for always. All we can do is try our best to be a better version of who we were yesterday. If we do this, we will reach the closest thing to perfection we can.

The goal in life is to be content with who you are, but be ever striving for more.

It matters that we have a glass of water in the first place. When we appreciate there being a glass of water in the first place, we can spend our energy on finding ways to fill it up. As after all, arguing whether it's half full or half empty doesn't achieve anything.

It doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty.

Optimism is like a muscle that gets stronger with use. The more we train ourselves to be optimistic, the easier it'll become for us to see the world and it's challenges optimistically.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

The Reward

People who often win the lottery, don't see themselves as worthy of the money made, so they spend on possessions to create a sense of worthiness. When you get blinded by status symbols, it's easy to lose sight of the unique gifts that only you can give to the world. Money comes and goes, the only thing that sustains, is who you are and what you have to share with the world, that is your true treasure.

The way people handle their money is often a reflection of how they see themselves.

We often adopt many answers from society without questioning where they came from. Thinking that money is the answer to all of our problems is one of the most unquestioned answers we have in life. Question any answers that are unquestioned.

We often only focus on the unanswered questions in life, and forget about the unquestioned answers.

We must realise that there will always be peaks and troughs in anything we do. The goal is to not focus too much on the fleeting feeling of the ups and downs, but also appreciating it whilst it lasts. Focus most of your attention on the privilege that is the journey of going through all of it.

What goes up, must come down.

Transforming Our Consciousness Through Adversity

Without adversity, there would be no growth of consciousness, or evolution of humans. Often it is only through the necessity to overcome adversity, are we able to find meaning and reach our potential.

The only way to not have adversity turn into suffering, is by overcoming it.

And it is through the diminishment of our ego, that we create more understanding and cause lesser suffering to others. A paradox is that quite a lot of our adversities are actually created by our ego. And it is in fact, the less adversity you've encountered, the greater of an adversity that itself is. Those who are never exposed to adversity, become their own worst enemy, as they become unable to handle any adversity.

The worst thing would be for people to not encounter adversity, as it is through adversity, that our ego diminishes.

When you're sick, accept your symptoms, pain and discomfort, but not accept that you're a sick person. Accepting what is without making it your identity, allows you to seek the help you need, without focusing and wasting your energy and headspace on it.

Fully accepting something means not reacting to something.

Because it allows all the other virtues to exist. You're defined by your courage, and redeemed by your loyalty.

My mother thought the greatest virtue of all was courage.

Whenever you enter a relationship with someone, you have to let go of who you thought you were before you loved that person, because by loving them, who you are changes. You either grow apart, or grow together, love has to be expanding, otherwise it'll never last.

To fall in love, you have to take the risk of changing yourself for someone else.

Nowadays with social media, more and more of us feel like we have self worth based on external factors such as what we look like, what we have &amp; more. But the only true and sustainable metric of self worth, needs to come from within, as opposed to from the hands of others.

It's not so much about whether or not we feel worthy, but where our source of worthiness comes from.

By always saying yes to others, we make others become dependent on our willingness to always say yes. Prioritize authenticity, not niceness, as it forces others to grow and become independent, which ultimately benefits them.

Setting boundaries is not the act of a selfish person, but the act of a selfless person.

Parents and children are often both responsible for staying too long in a codependent relationship. At some point, we must release our parents from their parenting role, and move them more into the role of a friend or mentor. It is when we taking ownership of our own healing and responsibilities, is the of when we become adults.

Our parents shouldn't be parenting us for the rest of our lives.

In a world where people are searching for genuine meaning and authenticity, it is through pure intentions that you bring people together. If you have pure intentions, with an unwavering belief and work ethic to achieve something, others around you who share that vision will aim to help you along your way.

When you genuinely want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.

And every time we make a decision, or have an experience, we turn that core piece of ourselves into something more elevated, or something more degraded. If you make disciplined choices, you slowly engrave a certain set of habits inside that core piece. If you make fragmented decisions, you slowly degrade that core piece. What people with good character have is consistency over time of good decisions.

There's a central piece of each of us that makes decisions.

We don't pray for a life without challenges, but we do pray for challenges that can help bring out the potential within us. Our potential is always bigger than the problem that we're going through, we just need to be able to bring it out.
