Although we can’t avoid disagreements and frustrations in relationships, it doesn’t mean they have to turn into arguments. Disagreements aren’t the same as arguments. What does it mean to be honest about your Relationship mistakes? A mistake can be intentional or unintentional but the key is, it’s wrong. It is a form of behavior that is either dishonest, unjust, or immoral and often violates another. In life and in relationships we make mistakes, the question is, what is our response once we commit them. For some, the urge is to ignore their wrongdoings, make excuses, or even worse blaming others. This is a form of self-deception and will lead to someone repeating the same relationship mistakes over and over again. Recently in an interview Shaquille O’Neal spoke candidly about his past marriage and specifically his mistakes. In the interview he was given the opportunity to gloss over the roll he played in the breakdown and eventual divorce of his marriage. Rather than ignoring his error, he boldly corrected the interviewer and shared his relationship mistakes that led to the eventual demise of his marriage. This showed a maturity and a willingness to grow and be better.  It is our ability to be honest with God, ourselves, and with others that helps us find healing from our past errors. Any solid entity needs a solid foundation or anchor to bring it stability.  Consider for a moment a ship without an anchor. It would find itself fighting against the current, drifting from place to place unable to remain in one place. Consider a home and the destruction that would follow after a storm if it lacked a strong foundation. This is no different in relationships. People want strong healthy relationships, but they find themselves drifting and shaken after the storms of life. What is stabilizing your relationship? There are many practical things that we can do to help bring stability to our relationships. The most important thing is finding that stable and immovable object outside of our relationship first. I ship can’t anchor on it’s self and a relationship can’t either. Meaning if you only look within the relationship, you’ll be limited to find something strong enough to keep it. God is that immovable object that is able to stabilize not only you, but your relationship.  How do you practically allow God to stabilize your relationship? What is Stabilizing your Relationship?

Why is it when a woman chooses a man that is deemed undesirable by the world, people attack her character, assuming there’s an ulterior motive? As if her motives can’t be pure driven from the heart and wisdom. Recently on a podcast Channing Crowder attacked the character of Ciara and Russell Wilson. In his podcast Channing proclaimed that the only reason Ciara is with Russell Wilson is because of his money. In summary Channing felt Ciara’s EX rapper Future was a better catch, and that Russell Wilson was a square. Sadly, Channing contributed to the insinuating idea women are only with nice guys (i.e. a square) for their money. We are here to proclaim that not all woman are gold diggers. A “Gold Digger” is slang that refers to a person who engages in a relationship for money rather than love.  In this episode, we discuss how insulting it is to label women as Gold diggers, because they choose a man others characterize as less appealing. We also discuss how sad it is that we try to put a negative cloud over the NICE GUY. I.E. those who desire to be good man, clean cut, and not run the streets. Men who desire to be law abiding cities and take care of their children and family. This is a great episode that will challenge your perspective and encourage you before you label others, or allow others to label you. Have you ever made a rash decision that you regretted later.  In life we all have moments or things where we are urged to loose control. This could be something common such as an act of cutting someone off in a moment of road rage, or it could be something uncommon such as a violent attack upon a cheating spouse. In the case of Will Smith, it was going on stage at the Oscars and hitting Chris Rock. The point is out-of-control behavior is something we all must be on guard against.  Learn from vs Judge from It’s easy on the outside to look at another persons negative behavior and be self-righteous, but Jesus reminds us to be careful when casting stones. We are not better than other people. We all need grace. When approaching other people’s sin in judgment, we should always consider how we’ve also sinned. In no way shape or form do we want to condone Will Smith’s out-of-control behavior. As everyone is hyper analyzing Will Smith’s behavior, we must all recognize that we too have the ability to lose control. Although it may look different sometimes for the better or for the worse, these moments give us an opportunity to reflect on how do we avoid falling into the same trap of lost control. Possibly destroying your marriage, your relationships, your children, and your future. In this podcast episode we’ll take a look at how we are all susceptible to out-of-control behavior. Dating can be a rollercoaster!!! There are moments in the dating process where you have emotional highs. You meet new people, you meet someone you like, you get to know that person, and maybe it turns into a something special. Yet, there are also the lows. What do you do when you see a flaw in a person or a relationship? When looking for a possible spouse we often come across concerns about the person or the relationship. These are what some might call red flags. Troubling thoughts, feelings, or flaws that could be problematic to the success of a relationship.  RED FLAGS while dating aren’t something you want to ignore.  There some who in desiring a relationship so badly they over look obvious challenges about a person or the compatibility of them as a couple. Ignoring challenges, doesn’t fix them. They get bigger and bigger often resulting in a cataclysmic ending.  Though RED FLAGS are something we don’t want to ignore, we also want to have a good perspective as how to approach them.  Some within relationships can view any indifference as a red flag, leading them to abandon what could be. This too is problematic because “no one” is perfect.  The truth is we all have red flags we bring into relationships.  In this podcast episode we explore Red Flags (troubling concerns, feelings, or flaws). How should you approach red flags while dating? What are the types of concerns you should end the relationship immediately? If you do choose to move forward in a relationship where red flags exist, how should you approach them? Is the grass “always” greener on the other side? This is a saying that reflects a view people hold when comparing their life and circumstance to others. Sometimes as people are dealing with challenges they begin to compare their life circumstances with  differing, and often better circumstances than their own. There are many dangers of comparison within relationships. Often comparison leads to a discontentment within one’s own situation, and a false perception of other situations. Whether single, dating, or married falling victim to, a grass is greener mentality, is something you want to guard against.  In this podcast we look at different circumstances of relationship comparison, and point out its dangers. It’s easy to compare and look at other people’s reality assuming their situation is better. Yet, a person doesn’t fully see what challenges they may face or the effort given to the image they admire. It’s been said, “that the grass is greener on the other side, because that’s where all the crap is.  Don’t make the mistake of comparing your life with others. Let this podcast remind you whether single, dating, or married you are more than a conquer in Christ. Choose to be proactive verses reactive. The Dangers of Comparison within Relationships.

When is the last time you really thought about what is love? People in all walks of life are in pursuit of love within relationships, but what is that exactly? Some in their pursuits are chasing passion, while others are desiring happiness, but is happiness. Many people consciously or unconsciously build their idea of love from the movies they watch, the music they listen to, or the people they admire, but is that where one learns love. Does your idea of love match the reality of it? An idea is just that, an idea. It is a thought formed in your mind. Just because you thought of a great plan, doesn’t mean the execution of that plan will turn out great. That’s where reality comes into play. It’s important to match one’s ideas with reality, otherwise you could be living in a fantasy. In this podcast episode we talk about the reality of love. It is the reality of love that will play out in our lives. If I have a correct understanding, then I can make sure my pursuit is obtainable. In Pursuit of Love, What is LOVE?

What is relationship vision?  Vision is the ability to have foresight. The ability to see beyond where you are, and to see where you want to go. Imagine a company that lacks a vision statement, how successful do you think that organization will be? This is no different as an individual. Having a personal vision statement to guide your life will place you on a road to success. Having vision for your relationship desires will do the same.  Possessing vision applies regardless of the relational phase you are in.   Unfortunately, many singles don’t look ahead to see how their singleness will impact their dating or marriage life. There are those dating in dead end relationships, because they didn’t have a vision for where that relationship was going. You will find more people lacking foresight in marriage, because they viewed marriage as the end goal, rather than the beginning of a new journey. These are all key concepts I explore extensively in my book Chasing Happily Ever After. In this podcast episode we’ll discuss the importance of vision within singleness, dating, and marriage. Have you ever found yourself desiring something more with a longtime friend? Many romantic relationships form as a result of an initial interest. Meaning the two really didn’t know each other before they began the journey of a romantic friendship, which would hopefully evolve. Yet there are instances when two people initially formed a platonic friendship, and over time one or both began to feel something more for the other. How do you approach these desires? From friends to dating. Fears, doubts, and anxieties can overwhelm someone when they have feelings for a longtime friend. In this podcast episode we discuss from friends to dating. We share how to handle emotions of attraction towards a platonic friend. We also discuss steps a person can take to communicate those feelings, and allow for the possibility of that friendship to evolve into something more. Who hasn’t been somewhat nervous on a date? I believe being nervous isn’t a bad thing. There is a sense of humility that comes with being nervous, and with that humility people should learn to lean on God for strength. Unfortunately, the levels of nervousness people feel are not the same; nor is how they respond to it. For some their anxieties can result in a complete lack of confidence, which negatively impacts their dating experience. Some people are so overwhelmed that they shy away from dating all together. Telling someone you love them is easy. Showing them is what’s hard.  Culturally we live in a time when people are in love with the idea of being in love. Today, love has become more of a feeling verses an action taken. It’s been said that relationships are work, but what this is referring to is the effort needed to preserve a relationship from deteriorating. It is for this reason that our final principal to transforming your relationship is the act of love.     If you could do one thing to transform your relationship, would you do it? Principles are fundamental truths that surround us and govern us. These truths if applied can have a positive impact upon your life, but if ignored can lead to calamity. In my book, Chasing Happily Ever After, I outline several benefits of platonic friendships and how they help build healthy relationships.  Yet, how do you navigate those important friendships when you step out of singleness and into an romantic commitment?  Do you completely disassociate with close friends of the opposite sex? What about men or women you’ve known for years and are like family?  Many relationships and marriages struggle with approaching friendships of the opposite sex. This is my first relationship, and I am finding it hard to navigate what is right and what can be potentially dangerous when courting. One thing that I’ve been struggling to understand or accept is my boyfriend hanging out with other women. It isn’t often but I am uncomfortable when the topic arises. I usually am able to accept it in the end, but this time around he wants to catch up with his ex-girlfriend. My question is, is it wrong to be friends with your ex while your in a relationship? A growing trend is the act of dating multiple people at the same time.  The truth is, dating is evolving! Much of this has to do with technology and how people meet. Before technology most people met through a friend connection, or at a social gathering. It was rare that once you engaged with one individual, that you simultaneously meet others, and begin to date them. This isn’t to say it didn’t happen, but it wasn’t as frequent as it is today. Through online dating and other resources. People are continually meeting new people, engaging in new dating interactions, while dating and interacting with others.  Is this good; is it bad? Should one date multiple people at the same time? We had a listener ask this very question, and shared some of the complications that can occur… Hello, I’ve had success in the initial stages of online dating in part due to your episode on how to have confidence on a date. I am now seeing/dating a girl that I really like and feel long-term compatibility. It’s been almost a month and a half since we both met on a dating app and we’ve seen each other about 5 times. I initiated a conversation with her last week about where the relationship was going. We both expressed that we were indeed interested in each other beyond the profile that we saw and will continue to get to know each other as friends.  We’re taking it slow and really taking the time to get to know this person. However, I believe this girl who I’m liking so much is dating/meeting other people during this time that we decided to take it slow. It’s good and bad. It feels special, but then it’s not. It’s affecting my excitement for her to think she is doing the same to other guys. It’s so easy for people to go on a dating app and receive new and a lot of interest from others.
