075: Challenging the Sh*t That Holds You Back with Andrea Owen

Emily is a is a singer-songwriter, creative consultant, and author of Bare Naked Bravery: How to Be Creatively Courageous and host of the Bare Naked Bravery Podcast. Emily writes for people who struggle to remember what hope feels like and sings to those who yearn for something secret. She speaks to those who are done being bored and crave all things beautiful, strong, sacred, and sensual. In this episode, Emily shares her story of being diagnosed with a degenerative neurological hand tremor, which forever altered her two-decade livelihood as a cellist/cello teacher. Producing this podcast and interviewing amazing women all over the world has already been such a great experience for me, and this episode is really special. It's not often you get the privilege  to interview one of your best friends.   This week I'm talking to the wonderful and hilarious Jenny Ambrose. Jenny is a creative director, anthropologist, writer, business owner, encouragement coach - along with many other things - and also the mother of 4 needy animals and the wife of an amazing man.   Me and Jenny met through the power of Twitter a couple of years ago, after we bonded over our love of hummingbirds, and she's definitely made my world a much brighter place to be. Jenny grew up in New Jersey, and via LA and New York now lives in Florida. I'm SO excited to meet Jenny and her lovely husband Jake in person for the first time when me and Mr. Meg embark on our three month road trip across the US in August!   During our conversation, Jenny gets really open and vulnerable about her own journey - of feeling like she doesn't fit in anywhere, difficult    family relationships, her experience of art school and ultimately getting to a place of self validation and acceptance.   Jenny really shares how her journey of  rooting for herself and finding joy in the world, and what it has looked like for her, and she has some great words of wisdom and comfort for anyone wanting to work on accepting themselves. Producing this podcast and interviewing amazing women all over the world has already been such a great experience for me, and this episode is really special. It's not often you get the privilege  to interview one of your best friends. This week I'm talking to the wonderful and hilarious Jenny Ambrose. Jenny is a creative director, anthropologist, writer, business owner, encouragement coach - along with many other things - and also the mother of 4 needy animals and the wife of an amazing man. Me and Jenny met through the power of Twitter a couple of years ago, after we bonded over our love of hummingbirds, and she's definitely made my world a much brighter place to be. Jenny grew up in New Jersey, and via LA and New York now lives in Florida. I'm SO excited to meet Jenny and her lovely husband Jake in person for the first time when me and Mr. Meg embark on our three month road trip across the US in August! During our conversation, Jenny gets really open and vulnerable about her own journey - of feeling like she doesn't fit in anywhere, difficult    family relationships, her experience of art school and ultimately getting to a place of self validation and acceptance. Jenny really shares how her journey of  rooting for herself and finding joy in the world, and what it has looked like for her, and she has some great words of wisdom and comfort for anyone wanting to work on accepting themselves. In this episode, Lily shares her journey, from being a creative and going to art school to opening a bakery and later becoming a nutritionist and using creativity to redirect self criticism and as a way to help people with their health. We really dive into the relationship between creativity and self respect, setting intentions instead of goals and the importance of how we speak to ourselves in our head. We have a great conversation about the problem with the word deserving and really explore how our economy runs off of women believing they are not enough, so it is an act of radical bravery to claim your own worth AND want to make a bigger impact. 000 Couragemakers: The Back Story

 Hello Couragemakers!  This week I’m so excited to be chatting to the wonderful Gina Greenwood. This episode feels like it’s been a long time coming and I’m so excited to share it with you! Gina is a salon owner, hairstylist, leader, mentor, and self-confessed master of badassery. She has made it her mission to change the world one head at a time.  Not only is she doing that by giving people the added confidence that comes from looking and feeling their very best but also by encouraging anyone and everyone to live an intentional life.    In this week’s episode, we’re really diving into what it means to live an intentional life. Gina learned the power of intentional living when she was nearing her 39th birthday.  Gina’s Mother was tragically killed in an automobile accident at the young age of 39.  It was when Gina  began to near that age herself that she truly began to realise what a gift every moment of every day truly was.  She made the decision to live her life intentionally.    During our conversation, Gina shares how her life has changed now she brings intention into her daily life, how perspective is everything and the power of her ‘fuck it’ mentality. We also chat about holding parallel truths, having a growth mindset and about the imaginary rules we create for ourselves and how we can free ourselves. Gina also shares behind the scenes of what it looks like to own a fantastic hair salon, how her approach to leadership has changed as well as the one thing every single person does without fail at the end of an appointment.  Gina’s approach to life is so refreshing I love her philosophy about perspective being everything. Her positivity is contagious and this episode is like taking a big sigh of relief. For the last twenty-five years, Sarah has been guiding women from a place of struggle in life to one of grace, peace, and ease through sacred self-care. She is the author of Inside: A Guide to the Resources Within published in 2018: a book that details the self-care practices that sparked Sarah’s healing journey and inspired her work in helping women move from trauma to transformation.. Sarah lives in New Hampshire and loves helping people heal through trauma with spiritual practices. What makes her most happy is being around people that have said YES to living authentically and finding the peaceful path. In this week’s episode we’re really diving into everything self care and living a life in tune with who we are deep down.
