Episode 1:  Power Pack #1

 In this episode, Jeff and Rick attempt to break their personal record of the number of podcasts they have produced by doubling their library…..will they succeed? Who knows!! Also, they compare Skeletor to Nixon, determine the morality of babies stealing candy from adults, and some science stuff.  And the kids get some snazzy new costumes…..Whoo hoo!  In this episode, a discussion about the new game of car tossing makes the demented duo reminisce about an orange car while drinking an IPA. They also talked about a comic book. Jack takes the lead as the Snarks finally succeed in their war against against a small clutch of children. It really is embarrassing how this elite cadre of soldiers keep failing against a group of pre-adult, cosmic powered, untrained humans….CHILDREN POWER! I am not going to get sued for that, am I? Episode 5: Power Pack #5

 What do you get when you mix four young superheroes, Spider-man, a synthetic dragon, a couple of mutated runaway teens, a kidnapped professor, and a variety of opportunities to sing?….a cacophony of chaos. Jeff and Rick try to keep up with the powered up pre-teens as they hop around New York chasing adventure. And, through the use of various bad analogies and singing, the boys prevail. Jeff even tries his hand at Broadway. He begins by serenading a beer, and finishes by challenging Lin-Manuel Miranda to a rap battle. It does not go well. And if these sentences smell funny to you, that is because we are reviewing a strange little tale. Guest staring... Madcap?!?! So I am assuming that you have never heard about Madcap, well I am not surprised. He is on the odd side of Marvel villains. He's a little to powerful and crazy for most writers to want to play with. But that will not stop us from hiking up our pants and tackling this nut, and answering the following questions:  Why did those guys just shoot Frank? Why is Madcap cutting off his fingers?  I hate to tell you guys…..but we've got one more issue with the Beyonder. And he doesn’t even have the decency to drive around his friend's dad’s Ferrari or go to an art museum. But, we also get two Thor’s…. Which is only fitting because it is a Thor book. Walt Simonson invites over Power Pack to play in his sandbox as Thor and Beta Ray Bill battle the Beyonder for all of the hammers. Jeff and Rick discuss many Asgardian topics, especially around what type of Santa costume Thor would wear. This is more important than you would think. Would it be more piraty or more Scandinavian? These are the questions that keep Thor up at night. The important thing to remember, the life lesson we should all take from this experience, is that you should always ask for help when battling an overpowered godlike being.....and to be careful when chewing bubble gum. Man, we are going to need some help on this one! We need Matt Matt Lazorwitz from WMQ Comics! I was sitting around cleaning the bathroom the other day, thinking about how awesome this issue was, and it occurred to me that this really is a game changer for this series. This was the first issue that Jon Bogdonav, normally an artist, wrote. This guy is going to go on to be the main series writer soon.....Mind BLOWN! I mean, I do not want Louise Simonson to go away, but if we are going to have a new writer, I am glad it will be someone familiar with the series....so, I guess that is a reason to dance. I know what you are saying, why all this random chatter about who the writer will be on the series...blah...blah...blah....Tell us what is in THIS book! Have you ever thought about me or what I want...have you. Maybe I am putting all of my heart and soul into this. I am not just some giant, robotic killing machine. Is that how you see me....A GIANT KILLING ROBOT! Maybe I am more than that. Maybe I am a fun loving goofy uncle that plays with fire. Maybe I am a deep thinking scientist. Maybe I am a really good cook that likes to share recopies. You don't know....You never ask! Ok, actually I am just a mean evil robot. I also may just be coming up with random statements to preface random pictures we got from the book. As it is, if you are not reading this on our web page, it will probably not make any sense. Speaking of which, you should check out our web-page. We work really hard on it. We work our poor little hands to the bones just to entertain you, and you never look at our page. You read that correctly, Weezie Simonson is on our show this week!!!  The co-creator and main writer of Power Pack agreed to join us for a long and rambling conversation about Power Pack. And we do eventually get around to talking about our pint sized super powered team. But first, we have to handle some important questions about food, wine, and beer. And we asked her the story behind these pictures!  Weezie’s love of literature, and her adventurous youth have factored into her creations, and she gladly shared stories about her creative process. We discuss how she began her comic career, and how she developed her idea into an actual comic with June Brigman. While primarily focusing on the mutant X-Titles, the Simonsons decided to bring in their own properties of Thor and Power Pack to witness the horrific death and destruction brought on by the Marauders…..yay? Don't you worry none, there is some fun stuff too...I guess.  And what do our sweet, sweet kids have to endure? Just death, violence, a nearly shirtless Wolverine, and Sabertooth. So grab your galoshes and check your Red Cross Donor card, because it is time to go back in the sewers! OK, Andy Kaufman allusions aside....let's talk about this inconsequential little Giant-Sized book. I say that because it really does not further any Power Pack story-line...or any real story-line about Franklin Richards. It does not really affect X-Factor, or is at least never referred back to, to my knowledge. So why are we covering this. Why, to make you cry! Well...Why not? It has the Pack doing some cool stuff, so why not? Your still crying, aren't you....well, it pads out how many episodes we get to do, which means we have to sometimes bend a bit to make things work. And is a good thing too. I mean, the Power Parents are worried, Cloak and Dagger are getting all fidgity…..and the Fantastic Four even noticed….I mean, look, they left a note! There is not much action in this comic, but that is ok. Instead, we have some really good character beats and moments, and a scene where Jack grabs Dagger. But mostly, this is about families and dads. Which is good, because we got two big daddies bringing you this fantastic Power Pack action. And there is also this moment where Alex seems to have forgotten talking to Katie back in issue number 13....
