Okay so as a fellow uni student (International Relations and Arabic at St Andrews) I just want to say your pronunciation is really bad, like it’s cringey to hear you say some names. I really love podcasts and history, big fan of Dan Carlin obviously, Martyr Made and lots of others. I have been searching for a good podcast on Middle Eastern History, not fussy about periodization and while I actually think your podcast does provide a decent cover of the topic; you don’t even have a BA in history and so your familiarity and ease at dealing with history as an academic discipline is not great. And look mine is not great either but the fact that you didn’t mention Edward Said and Orientalism at all in the syllabus episode is concerning. It just feels like you haven’t engaged with many experts. You should be careful to present whose ideas you are speaking and speak about the different historical ideas and how they’re constructed.

The narrator reads so fast it’s impossible to do anything but sit and concentrate on why he’s saying... really wish it was slower!  My favorite subject, but just can’t Handel his speed!
