This is due to background noise that was then attempted to be dampened by an over aggressive noise gate which actually ends up drawing more attention to the sound of the audio. You are reading a script, and while some will tolerate that, I would rather hear someone just talk to me like I'm sitting across the desk. Podcasts are a time-shifted conversation with your audience. I've seen him on late night talk shows and I know he has a passion for science. I expected this podcast to be more science-based. While the intro was professionally produced with superior audio quality. Maybe I expected him to come out and hit me with some science fact over the head, but when he interviews Itzhak Perlman (who I am also a fan of, he can seriously shred on the violin) the show sounded like another celebrity show where they interview celebrities. Granted, I listened to the first three minutes, but that's the point of this show. Alan is 82, and when he does what I will call the "calm, soothing, NPR voice" he sounds, um, 82. I didn't expect the energy of a morning zoo, and I didn't tune into the Hawkeye Pierce show, but I did need to come to grips that one of my favorite actors is 82.  This also makes me happy as he may bring in an older demographic to the podcasting space. I think he named his podcast wrong and nobody is going to type clear+vivid.  They will type in clear and vivid. Luckily, he is Alan Alda and can get away with this because people can type in Alan Alda. In the end, I'm not sure how I feel about this show. At this point as a new listener, why would I share your show? Then you pause for a break. The music stops abruptly, and then you come back. What was the point of that? Then you partially repeat the stuff you just said before FINALLY getting to a ghost story. I like the audio, the artwork, but I would ask for subscribers later in the show and get to the story. If there isn't an advertisement, don't stop for a break (that was just weird). This show is well produced and with a little straightening up, could go places. You can get away with reading the news, but listen to a newscast there is certain voice inflection. You were 100% news, and you weren't 100% talking to me across the table. You were in the middle. Also in your table of contents, it sounded like the pop culture topics were buried in the middle. If that it was the show is about put those up front. I thought it started slow. I guess we need to explain that this is about his solo career. I like that he said it was completely self-indulgent (that was funny), but this is ROBERT FRICKIN PLANT. I thought he might do a "behind the music" type story, or some "tales from the road." To be honest, I'm not sure what they were talking about but I do know it wasn't holding my attention. This is Robert Plant and we're talking about his wide range of musical influences? Anybody who knows the guy who was in the band that wrote "Going to California," Immigrant Song" and "Cashmire" has a wide variety of music tastes. There are probably great stories in this podcast, but they didn't build a bridge to it. I am glad to hear there wasn't a meundies commercial or geico in the first five minutes.
