I absolutely love the podcast and have listened to every story, thank you for such a great podcast!

I noticed in the newest episodes the sound quliaty has changed, almost to a tinny vibration, which makes it very difficult to hear. Can you go back to the sound you used previously?

Jake grew up in Utah, bounced around Europe and Africa for a few years, and moved to Anchorage in 2002. He describes himself as a mountain guy with a flair for the arts. He is happily married to Amy Malouf. So far they have climbed, along with their 15-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, the highest mountain in 44 of the 50 states. This introduction has basically nothing to do with the story he is about to tell.

Paul graduated from high school in Nome, and has been with the University of Alaska Anchorage for 17 years. He has a daughter who is an award-winning poet, three grandkids, and a wonderful nephew and great nieces. Paul has lived in Nome, Kotzebue, Fairbanks, Barrow, Sitka and Anchorage. He is a former photographer of Alaska fashion for public radio.

As a teenager in the 60’s, Larry moved from Seattle to Alaska, first to Kenai then Anchorage. After college, he took a job in California, where he met his future wife Sunnie. They married and returned to Anchorage to live, work and raise their three sons: Graham, Nolan, and Marshall. Today, Larry and Sunnie enjoy cycling, backcountry hiking and skiing, and “cabin time” at their hand-built log home in Willow. In the future, they anticipate extensive travel abroad, spending time with their sons and granddaughter Kinley Rae in the Lower 48.

Bill grew up in Anchorage in the 1950’s and 60’s. He lived in a log house with his parents, two sisters and a dog named Mickey. Every February, he looked forward to strapping on his mukluks and being flung in the air during the Fur Rendezvous blanket toss. Otherwise, he hung out with his gangster friends.

Destiny is originally from Alaska but grew up in Oregon and Idaho. She has worked with individuals with disabilities since she was 16. She is now a Registered Behavior Technician(RBT) and an Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) manager, and works with kids who have autism. She has three beautiful children and a wonderful husband.Michele is a proud Alaskan Resident who has lived here since she was three years old (that was 1969!). She has been married to her wonderful husband, Ken, for 29 years and together for 32 years. They raised three kids (now young adults) Jordan, Madison &amp; Hunter to love Alaska, too. Michele and her husband own Distinctive Homes and System Clean. He has traveled to over 35 Alaska Native communities and collected over 10,000 Sobriety Pledge Signatures for Iditarod Musher for Sobriety, Mike Williams. He considers himself a ‘Living-Example-To-The-Truth (LETTT)’ that life can be lived and enjoyed without ‘having to’ consume any mood/mind altering substances and supports HB138.

In 1990, Gretchen moved from the Lower 48 to Bethel, sight unseen, for a one-year contract. She stayed for five years before leaving for graduate school in Seattle. Despite growing up in Fairbanks, Bonnie settled upon Anchorage after her release as an opportunity to start her life fresh in a new spot. Now a supervisor at Fire Island Bakeshop, Bonnie has become an active member in the Anchorage community. While incarcerated at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, Bonnie was involved in Running Free Alaska, a structured running program that promotes healthy habits and relationships. She continues to serve as an ambassador for Running Free Alaska, working to maintain connections with the women once they are released into our community.

He spends his metal energy contemplating Citizen’s United and organic compost (not together), and all his airline miles flying back and forth to visit his grown kids. When he doesn’t answer the phone on the first ring, it’s probably because he’s in his truck-tent camped out along a riverbank.
