Lectures from a University of Virginia course on post-1945 American history

This course provides a decent overview of some aspects of U.S. history since 1945, but I found Dr. Burns&#39; discussion of social movements on the left (labor, civil rights, feminism, environmentalism) to be deeply frustrating. She hews to the discredited &#34;good sixties/bad sixties&#34; dichotomy, and consistently portrays the political right as responding to the left &#34;going too far.&#34; Her obvious disdain for unions, the welfare state, and anything that smacks of radicalism colors her narrative to the point of distortion and oversimplification. Of course, most U.S. academic historians are liberals, and one can argue that most of them similarly distort movements on the right. Fair enough. But I don&#39;t think that Dr. Burns is a fair or reliable narrator of recent U.S. political history.

Decent overview weakened by conservative bias

Basic yet insightful. Plain yet thoughtful. Love it! Thank you!
