Is there someone that you know that can give you some information to start this process? 👨‍🏫 Then reach out to that person. It’s not really a challenge if I haven’t done it myself. Let me give you an example. When it comes to whole life insurance, I know that most advisors that sell whole life insurance do it more for the commission that they will make rather than if it is the right investment for you. Because of that, I have a very bad taste with whole life insurance. That’s not to say that there aren’t cases where whole life insurance does make sense. There was a guy that I met at a conference a year ago and we were supposed to have a call to discuss whole life insurance. We finally had the call yesterday. This is an agent that focuses mostly on whole life insurance. But, he does it differently in that he knows it is one of the most misused, missold, and misrepresented products out there. But he does subscribe to the infinite banking concept (more info on this in future videos). I set up the call because I wanted to learn more about whole life insurance. I was blown away by the information he shared with me. He has structured his policies in a way that benefits the client. His commission is a fraction of what most insurance agents would make. That way it is structured to put more money in the clients pocket than his. The whole point is that I want to learn more about investment strategies and wealth building strategies. I am not going to just settle for what I know. There are people out there that are experts in different spaces and I can learn from them. 👨‍🏫 Chances are there is information that you want to know, so I am challenging you to reach out to these people. 😀 Some of you have commented that you want to learn more about real estate investing or online business. Investing in your 20s is the best...I repeat...BEST thing you can do to set yourself up for success. When I was 20 years old, I was broke. I didn't know anything about investing, I didn’t know what a mutual fund was, I didn’t know how to invest in the stock market, I barely had $100 to my name. By the end of my 20’s I had paid off all of my debt, I was investing in a 401K, I had maxed out my Roth IRA, I was on top of the investment world. I had it all figured out. How did I do this? I found the 7 rules to investing in your 20s. Most people assumed that since I was a finance major I should know about investing. The truth is they didn’t teach you that in college. When I started my career, I didn’t know how to invest. But I got real world experience and knowledge when I started my career as a financial advisor. I started investing with as little as $25/month. I should have started with more, but I felt good with what I was doing. Those first mutual fund investments taught me how to get started in my 20s. So let’s take a look at those 7 Rules: ➡️ 1. Just freaking start [2:40] - It doesn’t matter where you start investing - just START somewhere. ➡️ 2. Respect compounding interest [5:28] - Many people do not understand or appreciate the power of compounding interest. Let’s look at an example at 20 yrs. old investing $300/month with 8% return - you will have a one million dollars by the time you are 60. 💰 At 30 yrs. Old with the same investment you will have $440,445. ➡️ 3. Uncover those golden eggs [7:03] - When it comes to investing you only know what you know. Until you actually start investing you are not going to know what is out there. ➡️ 4. Choose tax-free status [8:38] - This contradicts what Dave Ramsey will tell you. I suggest that you start with the Roth IRA vs. the 401K. With a Roth IRA, you have to open your account and choose your investments (you will learn more). ➡️ 5. Invest in your number 1 Asset [10:20] - That number one asset is YOU. Invest in yourself. You can start this by reading books, attending conferences, etc. ➡️ 6. Understand the power of the side hustle [12:35] - Do you want to be in control of your future? That is what the side hustle can give you. It doesn’t happen overnight, but with work it will happen. ➡️ 7. Do what the wealthy do [13:58] - When you start in your 20s this might be tough but one way I started was opening a self-directed retirement account. The wealthy invest in real estate. 🏠🏠 You can do this with real estate notes or a platform like Fundrise. It doesn’t matter where you are in your investment journey. After reading the book he was determined to become a real estate investor. Even though he had ZERO money, ZERO experience, and ZERO mentorship, he didn't let that stopped him and didn't quit until he acquired his first rental property. Since then he has acquired several more properties and with each one becomes more confident in the process. His latest property should net him over $200k in profits. Travis: There are always deals, whether the market is up or down - you can still find good deals. You will run out of cash doing real estate but you can start partnering and working with other people. Once you start a remodel, you can run into issues you were not expecting. This can make staying on budget difficult, so it is always best to allow your self a margin to cover these surprises.Owning assets is definitely a major component in building wealth. With real estate I am able to rent some properties for ongoing monthly income and also rehab and sell houses to create cash flow for my company. When you are investing in real estate one of the hardest things can be actually finding properties that will allow you to make a profit. You have to stick with it to find the right properties, find the cash flow to make it happen, and then keep building on that. It takes time to build up a real estate investment business. From $12 Per Hour To $1.5 Million Real Estate Investor

Today I want to talk about how to become an expert in your field. How to use your knowledge to build wealth and potentially create passive income. At 24 I was fresh out of college and ready to take on the world. I had just completed a two-week intensive training on learning how to become a financial advisor. I was preparing for my first client meeting and I was scared but confident. I can remember thinking that I was really going to mess things up. And I did. I bombed. I started to question whether I should have become a financial advisor, if I had made the right decision. Those people did not become clients, but I learned so much from that first meeting. It taught me how to teach what I knew. I had the knowledge, I just didn’t know how to deliver that knowledge to others. I know many of you have an interest in becoming an expert in your field, but you feel like you don’t have the knowledge or the experience to do so. I want to challenge that belief. 😀 Today, I am going to show you how you can become an expert in 4 easy steps - and become an expert 10 times faster than what you would expect. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers he talks about the 10,000 hour rule. Basically he says to become an expert in your space, it takes 10,000 hours to become world class in whatever it is you are trying to do. I disagree with that rule. In reality, you may be an expert and not even know it yet. When was the last time you have been to a restaurant that a friend or family members has not been to. They come to you and ask ‘how was the food’ how was the service’? You can share your experience with them because you are one step ahead of them. You are the expert. You have been there. They look to you to be that expert. 😀 Now granted they are not going to pay you for that knowledge, I just wanted to share that example with you. My buddy Travis, who is a real estate investor here in Nashville was thinking about doing some sort of course to teach others about real estate investing. But he didn’t feel like an expert. Even though he had 5 properties that he was consistently making money from and he could potentially make six figures on one property he didn’t look at himself as an expert. I told him what I will tell you: If you have done something that someone else hasn’t - you are an expert. All you have to be is one step ahead of that person and continue to stay ahead of that person through that journey. Now I want to share with you the four steps you can take to become that expert. ➡️ 1. Study and do research [5:02] - You can learn from other experts in your field, by buying and reading books related to your topic, and by attending conferences or trainings in your field. 📚 ➡️ 2. Test it out and apply what you have learned [7:33]- You have to take all that research and all that information that you have learned and test it out. Make an outline of the topics you want to discuss. ➡️ 3. Document what works and what doesn’t [9:15] - This allows you to build on what went well and gain more knowledge around what went wrong. As a bonus if you document your learning process you can use that document to create a product that you can sell. ➡️ 4. Just teach it [12:05] - Teach everything that you have learned in steps 1-3. Fastest Way to Become an Expert on Anything (and stop feeling like a fraud)

I don’t know if this is hacking your wealth, but it is all about building relationships, which can grow your wealth if you do it right. 💰 Just the other day I got a chance to meet up with a buddy of mine Chris Greenwood. I shared his story about being a musician and getting tired of being on the road all the time. He started teaching other musicians how to market their business and how they can make money.🎵 The point I wanted to share was that we have known each other for roughly 3 years and we communicate on Voxer. During that time we have only met in person twice. He came to town to meet me when we were in our rental house. He was just in town again and I made sure that I was able to meet up with him while he was here. 😀 The moral of the story is we both went out of our way when we had the opportunity to get together. Just to have the opportunity to connect and see if we could help each other. There are so many examples where I have went out of my way, either making a trip to meet someone, or to attend a conference. I’ve driven over 2 hours to meet up with people before. 👋 Those connections that you make over time are invaluable. That is how you build your network. They say your network is your net worth. I don’t really care for that quote because it makes it seem as if you are using people for money. 🤔 But you don’t get those connections if you don’t go out of your way to meet those people. You have to build a network of people that you can help or they can help you. They may connect you with someone else that they know. There was a time in my life where I had over $30k in student loan and credit card debt. I used to use my ATM receipts to balance my checking account. I would get in stupid arguments about money with my girlfriend, now my wife. I can remember one argument where I wanted to buy a new TV using a zero percent credit card. She lost it. That was a pivotal moment and I had to make some tough decisions. Was I going to continue down this path of financial destruction? This path where I didn’t understand personal finance. Was I going to change and be better? Start learning the principles of how interest works, how to invest, how financial tools work? I am thankful that I made the right decision. When I tell them the best investment, in my opinion, I get a really strange look. Because this investment takes work. It takes some hustle, grit, and some personal investment. It puts you in a position where you may fail. So let’s find out what this invest is right now……. One of my favorite authors, Chris Guillebeau wrote this book Side Hustle - From Idea to Income in 27 Days. The side hustle is the best investment you can make. Why? It’s no surprise that less than 40% of Americans have $1,000 in their savings. We all know how much minimum wage is right now, we are just not making a lot of money. So how do we increase our income? We do that by starting a side hustle. That is how you get that income insurance or protection. In the book Chris refers to the side hustle as ‘it is more than just another stream of income, it’s the new job security.” Of all the things you can invest your money into, why would you chose a side hustle over stocks or mutual funds? It’s the benefits. Some of the benefits of starting a side hustle: low cost, minimum experience, you don’t need an MBA, no employees, no advanced skills. So what DO you need? How would you generate income to take care of living the life that you need to live. Having multiple streams of income is having income insurance or income protection. It allows you some flexibility if you lose your job, you still have some income coming in to relieve some of the stress. When we talk about hacking your wealth and wealth building, what is the importance of having multiple streams of income? On average millionaires will have 7 streams of income. If most millionaires and wealthy people have multiple sources of income. Why don’t you? 💰 Today I want to share 5 different sources of income that you can start working on today! 💰 ➡️ 1. Diversify Your Investments [2:53] - Having a 401K is great, but do you also have a Roth IRA? $1,000 in an emergency fund? Other investments? You can earn dividends and interest with some of these accounts. ➡️ 2. Offering A Service [4:47] - This is something that you are doing after work or on the weekends to earn additional income. This could be a side hustle that may eventually grow into a business. ➡️ 3. Create A Product [6:16] - I am thinking of digital products, products that can be sold online. This could include a book, a course, or other types of digital downloads. ➡️ 4. Start A Passion Project [9:06] - Some of the things you can do include fundraisers for a special cause or mission. Think of Bomba socks - for every pair of socks purchased, they donate a pair to homeless shelters. ➡️ 5. Invest Into Real Estate [12:20] - You can start this with a rental property or by investing into real estate investments like REITs, FundRise, Rich Uncles, etc. Some of the items on this list you can start today! Some of the platforms I’ve talked about before like Betterment you can start with $25 a month. You have no excuse for not being able to diversify your income. How to Become an Automatic Millionaire 💰 with David Bach

Today we are going to talk about a *special* type of account. It is the type of account that you have to have if your goal is to become wealthy. I want to answer some questions like - what is this account - what makes it so attractive - and why or how are wealthy people taking advantage of it. With those that are familiar with how to build wealth, you often hear they invest in real estate, they are entrepreneurs, they are investing into companies, private equity…..you hear all these different ways that they are building wealth. And all of these are true. But the one thing you have to realize is it is not just what they are buying, but how they are buying it. You always hear that the rich always take advantage of all the loopholes and tax breaks, and there is some truth to that, but these are not secret things. These are all things that are public information. I share all of this because this is what led me to opening the type of account that I opened. It is a self-directed 401K Plan. Now you can have a self-directed 401K or a self-directed IRA. We will talk about that a little more. All of this became popular back when Mitt Romney was running for office. When it became public that his personal IRA was worth over $102 Million. This was phenomenal - you know there are limits to how much you can put into an IRA annually. Right now that number is $5,500. So with these limits in place, how do you grow an IRA to that magnitude? 💵 A self-directed IRA or 401K is an account that you have full discretion over choosing where your money is invested. There are two things you cannot invest into with an IRA and those are Life Insurance and Collectibles. So what can you invest into? Real estate, Gold, options, hedge funds, limited partnerships, tax liens, private stock, and international real estate are all options. 🏡 Right now there are only 47 custodians that will let you open a self-directed IRA or 401K. Out of that 47, a lot of them do not offer all of these choices. There are over 791 Individuals that have IRA balances between $10 and $25 Million. All of these figures are from 2011, so I am sure the numbers have grown since then. So what’s the catch? What are the risks in having one of these accounts? The first risk is cost. You can expect to pay a lot higher fees for this type of account. Another concern is IRS filing requirements, meaning there are more stringent regulations you have to follow. The third is prohibited transactions, some examples would include using IRA money to purchase your personal property or a vacation property. So the investments within a self-directed 401K and IRA are the same, the difference is the amount of money that you can put into this account. With my wife also as an employee, we are both able to max out our accounts. 💰💰 I am more or less just sitting back waiting for these opportunities. I know they are coming and I know I can write a check when these investments come up. That is what makes this type of account more powerful. Today we are going to talk about a *special* type of account. It is the type of account that you have to have if your goal is to become wealthy. I want to answer some questions like - what is this account - what makes it so attractive - and why or how are wealthy people taking advantage of it. With those that are familiar with how to build wealth, you often hear they invest in real estate, they are entrepreneurs, they are investing into companies, private equity…..you hear all these different ways that they are building wealth. And all of these are true. But the one thing you have to realize is it is not just what they are buying, but how they are buying it. You always hear that the rich always take advantage of all the loopholes and tax breaks, and there is some truth to that, but these are not secret things. These are all things that are public information. I share all of this because this is what led me to opening the type of account that I opened. It is a self-directed 401K Plan. Now you can have a self-directed 401K or a self-directed IRA. We will talk about that a little more. All of this became popular back when Mitt Romney was running for office. When it became public that his personal IRA was worth over $102 Million. This was phenomenal - you know there are limits to how much you can put into an IRA annually. Right now that number is $5,500. So with these limits in place, how do you grow an IRA to that magnitude? 💵 A self-directed IRA or 401K is an account that you have full discretion over choosing where your money is invested. There are two things you cannot invest into with an IRA and those are Life Insurance and Collectibles. So what can you invest into? Real estate, Gold, options, hedge funds, limited partnerships, tax liens, private stock, and international real estate are all options. 🏡 Right now there are only 47 custodians that will let you open a self-directed IRA or 401K. Out of that 47, a lot of them do not offer all of these choices. There are over 791 Individuals that have IRA balances between $10 and $25 Million. All of these figures are from 2011, so I am sure the numbers have grown since then. So what’s the catch? What are the risks in having one of these accounts? The first risk is cost. You can expect to pay a lot higher fees for this type of account. Another concern is IRS filing requirements, meaning there are more stringent regulations you have to follow. The third is prohibited transactions, some examples would include using IRA money to purchase your personal property or a vacation property. So the investments within a self-directed 401K and IRA are the same, the difference is the amount of money that you can put into this account. Back with another Wealth Hack Wednesday and for this one I am bringing you to one of my favorite rooms in the house.. my work out room. 🏋️ So why am I bringing you into my workout room when we are talking about hacking our wealth? Well, it comes at no surprise that it is reported that 76% of wealthy people in the world carve out 30% of the day to workout. 🏃‍♂️ Hey, you are rich, you are wealthy but what does it matter if you are not here to enjoy it? Well one way to increase those chances is to work out. The reality for me, baring my military life, is my father. He didn’t teach me the basics of the financial struggles - that I had to learn on my own. But one thing I haven’t shared, I lost him earlier than I should have. My father died of a heart attack when he was 67. It wasn’t just that heart attack that took his life, but he had two triple bypass surgeries. One when I was in high school and one when I was in college or early in my career. One thing I think of with my boys now, when we are playing basketball or something like that -- is that I don’t remember my dad even throwing a football with me. Admittedly, he was a bit older when he had me, I think he was in his 40’s, so he was a bit older than the other dads. 👴 But as I got older, especially when I had my first son. I remember my dad, when he played with me, it wasn’t the same as the way I play with my boys. I enjoy playing with them. I want to be in good enough shape that I will be here to see my children and my grandchildren grow up. My dad passed away a few months before my first son was born. It makes me sad, when I have a dream of my father playing with my children. I wake up thinking wait, was that a dream? So, I want to be here, and be here in the best shape that I can for both my children and my grandchildren. 👴 So I workout. Now, I go through cycles. Don’t think that I am here 6 days a week! I went from working 4-5 days a week to 1-2 days a week when we first moved to Nashville. But now that we are in our house, and I have my workout room, I work out more often and I have joined a boxing class. I am 40 now, I am not in the best shape of my life, like I was when deployed in Iraq. But I feel pretty good. I stay active. But, I carve out time to workout. If you’ve watched my 5am routine, you know I start my day doing my 50 pushups. I’ve been doing walks and the elliptical, then some weight training and my boxing classes in the afternoon. I have had a few weeks where I have gotten in 5-7 workouts a week. The thing is, you have to commit to it. You have to remove every excuse you can from working out. For those trying to work out in the mornings when you are cranky and tired - you have to wake up ready to go. I go to bed in my workout clothes! I have my headphones charged and my fitbit ready to go, to eliminate any excuses of not being ready. It's those little things you can do to be ready for a workout and remove those excuses. Once you commit to doing 30 minutes a day, you are investing in yourself. You are energized and are more confident to tackle others things. 🙂 For those of you that have excuses...I challenge you.to set your goal lower, so they are easily achievable so that you can get to the next step. How did I go from making $19,676.41 to making over 6 figures per year? What were the Four Key Mindset Shifts that I had to make to allow this to happen? So I was going through some old files and I came across my 2004 tax return. This was significant because this was the first tax return I filed after my first year of becoming a financial advisor. ⚡ What a flashback! Just remembering where I was in my life and career at that time. I didn’t come from money and I didn’t have any friends or family that was making over six figures, so i just didn’t associate with those types of people. And that type of mindset. I didn’t know if it was something that I could ever accomplish, I don’t even think this was on my radar as a possibility. 💭 When I became a financial advisor, that opened my world to new possibilities and new opportunities. So who was that guy back then, and what types of mindset changes did I have to make mentally to get me from making $19k+ to making six figures - and now over 7 figures today. 👦 So I was 20 years old, as green as could be. I had no experience other than retail jobs and my college degree. But as far as making money, and making over six figures per year...I had no experience with that. We lived in a house that my dad paid for with cash - $8,000. Both of my parents had filed bankruptcy. So how do you shift from that style of life to working towards a more successful future? I think it all started before my career took off. My first mindset change was that the sky is the limit. I had to put myself in a position to have some control over my income. 💵 So when I think back, what were the four key things that allowed me to push through to making over six figures? ➡️ 1. Sales position [4:04] - It doesn’t matter what type of career you are in, you are selling something (even if it is just yourself). ➡️ 2. Bet on Myself [7:03] - I had to believe that I was going to succeed, regardless of what anyone else believed. 😁 ➡️ 3. Never get comfortable [14:34] - No matter how big or how small the success, never get comfortable with where you are. You have to keep growing. 🌻 If you are trying to achieve that level of 6 figures or more, these are the things that you have to do. You can’t just get somewhere and just cruise or drift. You have to keep pushing yourself and challenging yourself. Just make sure to step back and celebrate your wins along the way. Best Short-Term Investment Options (for high return 🚀)

Today I am going to share 6 ‘rich people’ habits that I’ve adopted in my life and how my life has changed. I have seen exponential growth in my life and my business by changing a few small but impactful habits. Before I share these 6 habits I want to give you a little context as to where I was in my life and career. To give you an idea of why I needed to make some changes. So, I have been a financial planner for over 16 years. When I hit 5-6 years in my career and had reached a 6 figure income things were good. But, I felt like something was missing. 🤔 I began a journey of researching and looking at highly successful entrepreneurs. 💰 In my research I noticed that these people had some common habits. Some habits that I was not following. I was a bit skeptical but I thought I would try some of these changes and see if they had an impact on my life and career. Over time I did see an impact. Go to bed early [3:11] - I changed my habit from going to bed at 12 or 1:00 am and started getting to bed earlier so that I could get up earlier. Then I started each day with intent and focus. ➡️ 2. I like to think of myself as a happy person. There’s not a lot of things in life that bring me down. Even if it is cloudy outside, I can find a way to make the day good. 😁 For a lot of people, it is about being productive. Being productive makes us happy. There is science that supports that! I enjoy crossing things off my to-do list, and staying on top of my ‘big goals’ for the week. What I have noticed and found in research, for exceptionally happy people, it is not always about the things that people have to do, but the things that they DON’T DO - - that make them happy. So what are the 11 things that exceptionally happy people don’t do every day? ➡️ 1. Don’t be distracted by multiple notifications. [1:49] - Don’t be a slave to the constant notifications from social media, email, etc. ➡️ 2. Don’t blame anybody for anything. [3:52] - Stop blaming others for things that go wrong in your day. ➡️ 3. Do not check your phone while talking to someone. [5:48] - It is so annoying to be in a conversation with someone and they are constantly checking their phone. ➡️ 4. Do not multitask during meetings. [7:16] - Make sure that you are present, contributing, and you know what is going on in the meeting. ➡️ 5. Do not interrupt when someone else is talking. [8:24] - Give the other person time to finish their statement before you add your input to the conversation. ➡️ 6. Do not waste time on people that do not add value to your life. [10:17] - We have so many people in our lives that this can be a tough one. ➡️ 7. Do not whine. - [12:41] No one wants to hear you constantly talk about your problems, focus on the positive. ➡️ 8. How to Connect with Anyone (without feeling like a douchebag)

You think you’ve got it all figured out. You read the title of this video #1 Wealth Killer and you think you know exactly what this video will be about. Plus I’m at Starbucks ordering …..a Latte. For those that don’t know New York Times best seller David Bach talked about the Latte Factor in his bestseller The Automatic Millionaire. What the Latte Factor is, he would look at people’s spending, and identify things we spent money on each day. The basic deal is that you could take that money that you spend on little things each day and invest it instead. But, that is not the #1 Wealth Killer. I’m not gonna argue with David Bach, there is no question that we waste money on so many stupid things. Things like lattes, eating out, Uber rides, the lists goes on and on. But there is one thing, one payment that trumps ALL of this. This is not a little expense, it is a huge expense that so many of us are doing. I’m even going to go as far as to say - It is your fault. 🤦 So many of you have commented that you have to have this. 🚗🚗 It is your car payment. 🚗🚗 You all justify that with the ‘I need reliable transportation’ - do you really need a brand new car to get to your job? No. 🚘 It is reported that 107 million Americans have auto loan debt (about 43% of the adult population). Maybe you are one of those that think if you can afford the payment, is that really such a big deal? Well about 6 million people are 90 days late on their car payment. 🤦 Do you see why I am getting wound up about this? Ok, so let’s talk about the numbers...we are talking $1.1 Trillion in auto debt. The average monthly payment is $523/month with an average loan length of 67 months. How about a crazy idea….for those of you that think you need a car payment, does it have to be $500/month? What if you invested that $500 instead, or even got a lower priced car for $300-$400 and invested the remainder of that $500? 😀 So is there a rule of thumb that you can follow to see if you are on the right track? Yes. I created the car payment wealth-killer formula. Just so you can’t tell me I didn’t make it simple enough to understand, I have used some of my children’s toys to explain this formula. It said something like ‘if there is something that you would like me to do: don’t worry I’ll get a round toit.’ I knew exactly why she had it on the wall - because my dad was a bit of a procrastinator and I inherited this trait from him. I was the guy in college that would wait until the last minute and then stay up all night to finish a paper that I had to turn in at 9:00 a.m. the next day. 🎓 Yes, that was me! But procrastination - it’s a real deal and you would be surprised at how many people are suffering from procrastination. People that are seeing real losses. 😲😲 I’m going to share some stats with you and I’m going to help you determine if you are procrastinating. If you truly are..I’m going to give you a 4-step formula to help whip procrastinations’ butt. So you can get stuff done. In 1978 5% of the population suffered from procrastination - that is up to 26% today. But with students, those numbers are between 85%-95%. If you find yourself often saying ‘I should do this’ or ‘I shouldn’t be doing this’ - then you are procrastinating. Here are the 4 C’s to help you beat procrastination: ➡️ 1. There is no more sleeping in, there is no more skipping, there is no more staying out late on Wednesday night just because you want to. 😓 The ironic thing about becoming a grown up is that there are certain expectations that adults are supposed to do, things they are supposed to have. The ironic thing is, those things are keeping you broke. They are preventing you from achieving wealth and becoming rich. 💰 Today, I want to highlight 8 grown up behaviors and expectations that are keeping you broke. 💸 ➡️ 1. Happy Hour [2:51] - All your co-workers are going out to unwind and network after hours, so you should too right? At $5-$10 a drink? No. ➡️ 2. A new wardrobe [5:18] - You want to dress to impress, you want to look good. On average we are spending $200-$300 a month on clothing. ➡️ 3. Credit Card Interest [7:10] - It is reported that credit card interest that was accrued last year was over $104 billion. You should use credit cards but you need to pay them off EACH month. ➡️ 4. Brick and Mortar Banking [8:47] - Traditional banking pays really low interest on your savings account (average of .05%). You are losing money! Try some online alternatives. ➡️ 5. Kids Birthday Parties [10:35] - The average family spends $500 on a child’s 1st birthday! Do you think your 1 year old is going to remember that party? ➡️ 6. 8 Grown-Up Behaviors Keeping You Broke 💸 (adulting wealth killers)

What if you had a business that was making $100,000 in one month? BUT, what if this business was failing miserably? 😱 You may have 100,000 in sales but your company is in the red, you are losing money. It is time to make a Pivot! You will have to make some changes to turn things around. Thankfully this wasn’t my experience, but this was an experience of a close friend of mine. I recently had breakfast with him to learn more about his story. My friend is Antonio Centeno - you might know him from Real Men Real Style. OORAH! This dude is Legit! 🤵 He knows fashion, but you will know he was a Marine just by his demeanor. I wanted to share his story because it is an important lesson. I actually didn’t know what I wanted to do with my philosophy degree - but I knew the Marines would be a good first step. One thing we learn in the military is that you don’t fail -- you don’t give up. A Tailored Suit was the first company I founded in 2007. Even through I was making 100,000 a month, my expenses were even higher. I was losing money. Obstacles are there to stop other people. If you are healthy and relatively young- you may live until your 90s - you have plenty of time to change the world! 🙌 Remember the word Pivot? You typically hear this word associated with entrepreneurs - but it’s true for all business owners. You may be on the right path in your business but if you face obstacles, you may need to pivot to reach that next level of success. 🤔All of the sudden you realize you need to make a change. With Antonio, he was on the right track, but he need to make a change in his business. He was talking about style for men because he felt like that was a great niche that needed to be served. But with his pivot instead of offering custom tailored suits, it was more about educating and offering tools and resources to help men dress for success. He started with A Tailored Suit - it didn’t quit work out so he pivoted to Real Men Real Style - and has developed a major following. I didn’t have any huge pivots but I did have a time where my following dropped from 100,000 overnight. This happened after Google made some changes. They did not notify me AT ALL. 😱 I didn’t know why I had a sudden drop or what to do to fix it. I had to make a small pivot and take a look at where I was going. 💡 I thought about why I had started the blog in the first place. That is what inspired me to start my YouTube Channel. A lot of times people will just quit. This is where you don’t give up and accept defeat. You analyze where you are and where you want to be and you make a pivot. It doesn’t happen overnight. So you’ve probably been told before that you have to become an expert before you can market yourself. Before you can build a platform. Before you can sell a product. I’ve meet his wife and his family. We are in a mastermind group together where we get to meet up often. The one thing about him that really blew me away - he has several products geared towards writing. Joe’s not a writer. He’s never written or published a book. Yes - we were just having this conversation in the car about things that hold you back in business, and things that have held me back. The one thing that comes up all the time is feeling like an imposter. I was experimenting with a lot of things and I came across Scrivener, which is a tool for writers. Here I am a C grade student in English, have never written a book, but I had a thought. Could I create a course around Scrivener? I had fears because I’ve never written a book. The thing is no one asked how many books I had written. What it comes down to is that people just want to know that you know a little more than them. Once we realize this, it takes so much pressure off our shoulders as creators or teachers. You don’t have to be the foremost expert, you just have to know a little more. So, Joe when you came up with this idea, you still had a 9-5 job right? How did you find out about Scrivener and how did you decide that you wanted to create a course? I started a number of different blogs. So I started using Scrivener to organize all my blog content. It’s like when you buy a car and then you start seeing it everywhere. It was like that with Scrivener. I was using it, and I started seeing people writing articles about it. I noticed Michael Hyatt was using it and the comments he was getting from people were “I wished I knew how to use Scrivener, I wished I could learn it, etc. I noticed most of the content out there wasn’t solving a crunchy problem. Think about ‘What’s painful for people that you think you can solve?” I saw this with Scrivener, there was a need for people to learn how to use it. Did you create the entire course before you sold it? I made a little bit, then I reached out to folks one-on-one. I used their feedback to complete the course. So, how much is Scrivener? How much was your course, and how much is your course now? The Scrivener program is priced at around $40-$45, it is priced very affordably. How to Invest $500 (5 Brilliant Ways to Invest 500 Dollars)

What’s going on Y’all? Back with another Wealth Hack Wednesday! Today I just want to share a conversation I was having with a buddy of mine. We were talking about creating courses and coaching/consulting. How do you go from having this knowledge, experience, and this desire to help people and turn it into a business. I think a lot of people get stuck here. I was talking to Noah Kagan. If you don’t know him, he has a site called Ok Dork, also the CEO of AppSumo, and employee #30 at Facebook. Just a really crazy kooky guy. I remember when I was wanting to create my course for financial advisors and I was kind of stuck. I had the information but didn’t know how to deliver it in a way that people would get results from it, let alone buy it. 🤔 Where they could take action and get results. I was stuck. What was Step 1, Step 2 and so on. 🤔 I remember what Noah said, and it speaks volumes: Whatever it is that you are doing, instead of trying to reach 1,000 people - first, show one person how to do it. Take them through the entire process, each step. If you can show one person and they get results, then you can replicate that process and show a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th person. When I think about that process, I think about my boys. The all love Legos. All of the Lego sets come with instructions that are so easy to follow that anyone can do it. They had to show someone how to do that to create the instructions. 😁 It’s the same concept. Show one person how to do it, then create the Lego playbook on what the process is. That is how you are going to provide value and how you are going to offer your service. That is exactly what I did. I took one person through the process of how I created my blog, my social media process, etc. Through that process I learned some of the things that I had forgotten that I did. Taking that person through that process, reminded me of those steps and I was able to include that in the program. 😁 Whatever it is that you are trying to create, a course, a program, etc. If you are struggling to package it in a way that you you think someone will purchase it from you, go through this process. This first person may or may not pay you. But they will ask you all the questions that everyone else is going to ask. Then you know what to put in your playbook. Find that one person. Show them how to do it. The rest is history.

Today we are talking about setting goals. I am a certified ‘goal getter’. 😀 I am all about setting goals, reviewing those goals, and most importantly achieving those goals. 🍾 I wasn’t always like this. There was a time where I would do my New Year’s resolutions and set goals, but I usually didn’t review them until the next year. It wasn’t until I joined a business coaching program that emphasized the importance of setting and reviewing goals more than once a year. Now, it is no surprise that most rich people are reviewing their goals and making goals. Author Thomas Corley, Rich Habits, found that 62% of all rich people not just set goals but they review them every single day. When is the last time you reviewed your goals? 🤔 If it wasn’t today or yesterday then chances are you are not on that path to building financial freedom. I know it can be hard to believe that you can become rich. We are conditioned to believe that we are stuck where we are now. I want to challenge you that you are not Stuck! You don’t have to be poor the rest of your life. You can achieve wealth, you can achieve freedom. It all starts with setting goals and working towards achieving them. 😀 Today I am going to give you my top 10 financial goals that you can start working on today. ➡️ 1. Have plenty of cash on hand [2:23] - We want to work towards $1,000. ➡️ 2. Have a debt reality check and a debt payoff plan [4:10] - You may think it is impossible to become debt free. It’s not, but you have to have a reasonable payoff plan. ➡️ 3. Plan an early retirement [5:21] - You have to decide when you want to retire, and then determine how much you need to save. Then, you have to start investing. ➡️ 4. Seek out mentors to help with your wealth building goals [7:34] - Whatever lifestyle you want to achieve, who do you know that has the level of success that you would like to emulate. ➡️ 5. Get your insurance in check [8:25] - Make sure you have the right kind of insurance to save you from financial catastrophes. This could include life insurance, auto insurance, homeowners insurance, etc. ➡️6. Build Multiple Streams of Income [9:41] - This is not something that happens overnight. You have to put in the work and build a business that allows for these multiple streams of income. ➡️ 7. Finding Content with what you have [12:53] - You have to learn to live on less. Be happy with what you have and don’t feel like you need to constantly buy the newest biggest things out there. ➡️ 8. Give Back [14:39] - Giving back could include donating money, time, or knowledge. You can help others achieve success. ➡️ 9. Get your financial house in order [15:32] - Do you have a will? Do your loved ones have access to your accounts? Make sure all of this is in order. ➡️ 10. Do the work you love [16:18] - Have an understanding of what brings you joy. Then start working towards doing the work that you love. Those are my top 10 wealth building goals. Here’s the thing, I love doing YouTube videos, I love putting out content and I love when people take action on some of the advice that I offer. But do you know what I LOVE THE MOST? The comments! Not the simple “Thank you for the video” - the comments from the haters-Those are the ones that I love. I have been blogging for a while and I am used to these comments now, but I remember in the beginning how much they bothered me. But now, it is just so much fun just proving them wrong. So haters, have fun with this one!! 🤣 So in one of my more popular videos, it’s the Passive Income Ideas video, I share 11 ways that you can make passive income. One of the ways I talked about is using credit cards to earn rewards points and how that is passive income. Now we can talk all day long about whether or not that is really passive income or not? That is not what I am going to talk about today. What I want to focus on today is the people that comment that credit card rewards are not passive income, how it is a joke, a crock, etc. So I am going to show you some of these comments - comments that range from people calling me a con artist, people that are calling ‘BS’, and people that say it just doesn’t happen. I can tell you that it does work, you can get rewards points and save a ton of money. So here is one of the most recent times that rewards points were used…...my wife and I recently went to Cleveland with our youngest son. We had plenty of notice before traveling so I had time to look at my rewards points and get the best deal. So what did we get? Well we got round trip tickets for all three of us, we got three nights hotel stay, and we rented a Cadillac SUV for 3 days. I had almost 600,000 points on one of my cards and I had 140,000 other points that we used. So how much did we save using these points? The round trip tickets to Cleveland would have cost $1,600, the hotel was Home to Hilton, it was not the top of line hotel, but it was a nice decent room and that saved us $450, on the car rental I got a Cadillac SUV and saved $225. So, adding up all of these charges, our rewards points saved us $2,275. ✈️🚗🏨 Do you see why I think these hater comments are funny? 🤣 I saved a ton of money for that weekend trip. I have 3 credit cards that I use as my main cards for business and personal spending. We chose the Chase card specifically for travel. Another perk with the Chase Southwest card is you can qualify for a companion pass, if you travel frequently. Your companion can travel with you on SouthWest for FREE! ✈️ You also have the option of changing your companion up to three times per year. That is how we use our rewards points! Because that is what works for us. We travel frequently and with a family of 5 it can get pretty pricey. To address the comment about annual fees….yes I have to pay an annual fee but with the $2200+ that I just saved on this Ohio trip, I am still net positive. 💰 Another comment was regarding interest - we don’t pay interest on our cards because we pay off the balance in full each month. So we don’t accrue interest. We use our cards to pay for as many things as we can, monthly bills, dining out, etc. This way we earn points paying our standard monthly bills each month. By paying our cards off monthly, we don’t have any additional interest costs. Do you use credit cards to get the rewards points? If so which ones do you use? Do you prefer the travel cards or the cash back cards? Maybe I don’t have the best card out there so I want to know…..what’s working for you?

If you want to see my butt get kicked...you are in for a special treat today. I am doing a workout that I do every single Memorial Day. This workout is named Murph, it is named after Lt. Michael Murphy who is a Navy Seal that was killed in action. I didn’t know anything about crossfit until I deployed back in 2005. If you’ve heard of Crossfit, you’ve heard that it has blown up, but back then it was fairly new. There were only 2-3 guys that I knew in Iraq doing it. A buddy of mine introduced me to it. But while we were deployed we started doing these ‘hero’ workouts. They are all named after military personnel, first responders, those that sacrificed their life for the greater good. So I was still in Iraq when the Murph workout came out, I was already doing crossfit so I felt like I had to do it. The funny thing about this workout, is that it is the first workout that ever made me puke. 🤮 It was miserable. At that time I was 28-29 years old and probable in the best shape of my life and it still kicked my butt. I still do this workout every year on Memorial Day. 🏃‍♂️ This year I am doing it for the first time in Nashville. My friend Grant is going to join me and we will video the whole thing for you. 🏃‍♂️ Checking in at the halfway point, I am realizing how out of shape I am! 🏃‍♂️ I finished Murph in under an hour but this year was my longest time ever. 😩 I am ok with that! The whole point of this is what this day is about for me and for every other service member out there. Just remembering, never forgetting all of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. All of the people out there that do this without looking for a thank you. They do it because this is a country that they love. That means a lot to me and I hope it means a lot to you too.
