We know last episodes we covered Year One but we decided to revisit that volume as well as volume 12 of the Williamson run of The Flash. Year One was worth a revisit because it not only reestablishes some of the lost history of Barry Allen but also starts off a new one as well (Barry meeting not only Wally but Wallace at the same time). It also takes a villain that we didn’t think twice about and make him terrifying. Who would think the Turtle would be so scary?Then we get a return of Hunter Zolomon and we get an update to the great Blitz storyline. Turns out the clown DID have a gun. Joshua Williamson’s Flash Volumes Year One & Volume 12

We delayed the release of this episode until Kriss was out of town. We also timed it right around the time the Flash review dropped. Enjoy.Post Flash War, Barry turns back into a student and has to go through a bit of a re-education phase. This fits right in with the Joshua Williamson theme of taking Barry Allen on a journey we really haven’t seen him in before. A lot of this feels familiar to those of us who grew up with Wally West as our Flash because we watched him go through the same journey. With Barry, its not only about him really studying the speed force but also learning that a Flash doesn’t run alone. It’s also really interesting to read the journey that Barry is on while also reading the journey that Batman is on in the King books. We’re back with more of Joshua Williamson’s Flash run. This time we’re talking volumes 7 to 9 (issues 39 to 57). Williamson’s run really feels like a great jumping on point for the Flash. Since it’s during Rebirth, it gives us a great reintroduction of not only Barry Allen and Eobard Thawne but also Wally West. This part of the run felt like Williamson telling all of us that grew up with Wally as our Flash that his years as the Flash mattered. And while this series is centered on Barry, it felt good to get acknowledgement of Wally’s years (decades) as the Flash. Joshua Williamson's Flash Volumes 7 - 9 - Character Corner #111

We promised 2 episodes in March and we’re squeezing it right in there at the 11th hour. But we’re back for the next set of issues from the Joshua Williamson Flash run. We first stop over at Batman and pick up with The Button which takes us closer to understanding the forces behind all the lost time and history in the DC Universe. But it also reminds us that Eobard Thawne is the epitome of evil. The way he beats Bruce’s ass in the Batcave is a good reminder that speed beats prep time. It’s not just the Button though. After being largely absent in the first three volumes, Thawne features heavily in the next set of volumes for The Flash. And ends up dying…twice. If the first three volumes were a reintroduction of Barry Allen, these next set of volumes are a reminder of why Eobard Thawne is one of the scariest and evil villains in DC. Death doesn’t stop him. We finally get back into recording Character Corners and it still takes me 2 weeks to release the episode. Smh. Sorry for the delay folks but we’re finally hitting the Joshua Williamson run of The Flash. We consider this the reintroduction of Barry Allen. Sure in 2009 Geoff Johns did a “rebirth” of Barry Allen, having him finally return to the mantle after being dead for so long. But this run during DC’s rebirth really gets Barry back to the basics. Anyone that’s read this run knows it comes back down to Barry vs Thawne but the way this run starts off, it removes some of the staples like Thawne and the Rogues and focuses first on undoing some of the mistakes from New 52. We start with Wally coming back then there are hints of Jay as well. And of course the most important thing: how naive Barry is and how he runs into situations without seeing the big picture. We start with the first three volumes and when we come back we’ll hit The Button (the crossover with Batman and setup for Doomsday Clock). Joshua Williamson's Flash Volumes 1 - 3   - Character Corner #109

Now that the first season of the She-Hulk series on Disney+ is over, now is a great time to talk about She-Hulks comic book history. The timing has nothing to do with the fact that Kriss is late on releasing this episode because work has completely swamped him. Nope, this timing is completely planned. Anyway, after seeing some of the confused reactions to the Disney+ show, it actually is a pretty good time to remind folks just who Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk is and how writers have tackled that character over the years. First off, the show pulled their tone from John Byrne’s classic time writing the character in the 1989 Sensational She-Hulk series. Yes, She-Hulk is a Hulk with incredible strength but she’s also be written as a smart, funny character that has no problems crawling outside of the comic panels to challenge her writers/artists (sound familiar?). But aside from that, this character has always been about a woman challenging the male driven world around her. In the comics, Jen prefers to be in her She-Hulk form because that’s the form that makes her feel powerful, invincible and capable of standing up to the world around her. That leads to some really funny moments (like her getting kicked out of Avengers mansion for being too wild). Post Civil War 2 sees a change for the character. The death of her cousin Bruce at the hands of fellow Avenger Hawkeye (and his subsequent acquittal) puts Jen on a path where she channel’s Bruce’s troubles with the Hulk and becomes uncontrollable when she transforms. She-Hulk Attorney at Law - Character Corner #108

Kriss and Dpalm are back and this time we’re revisiting a character we’ve spent some time talking about before: Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. We’ve covered Dick before in our previous Robin Part 1 Character Corner that covered Dick Grayson’s years as the first Robin along with Jason Todd. This episode we’re spending some time talking about his years after he put up the Robin suit and became Nightwing.  Much like his best friend Wally West, Dick Grayson is one of those characters that started off as a sidekick but then became their own hero and eventually even took over the mantle. What’s so great about this character is how both similar and different he is from Bruce Wayne/Batman. Dick Grayson is what Bruce would be if Bruce Wayne didn’t hate being Bruce Wayne. Kriss and Dpalm are back and this time we’re revisiting a character we’ve spent some time talking about before: Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. Dick Grayson/Nightwing

Life has gotten really busy for Kriss and Dpalm so the regular Character Corner schedule has been a bit hectic these last few months. But thankfully Marvel has swooped in for a rescue by announcing a bunch of things for their next few phases of movies so that gives us a lot to talk about. In this episode we’ll talk about some of the trailers and announcements made for movies and TV shows coming out of SDCC. Not all of them involve Marvel and DC. We got the first teaser for the new John Wick and Amazon dropped a new trailer for their really really really expensive Lord of the Rings show. But of course, this is a comic podcast so we’re gonna want to focus on the comic book movies and TV shows that we got a look at. Unfortunately for DC fans, WB didn’t really bring a lot. We all knew we weren’t gonna hear anything about The Flash because…reasons. But WB only showed Shazam Fury of the Gods and Black Adam in a puzzlingly light presentation. They didn’t even lean on their successes like Peacemaker or even The Batman (which dropped this year but it seems like everyone has just forgotten about). No Aquaman either. It’s all just really puzzling.And then Marvel came out and it was the complete opposite. A firehose of information about the end of Phase 4 and what’s planned for Phases 5 &amp; 6. And boy is it a lot. Then there’s “that trailer”. We wrap up our Avengers part of our Hickman series with the 9-issue Secret Wars event that sees Hickman rebuild the Marvel Universe first in Doom’s vision then from Reed’s. Secret Wars is one of those events where you don’t have to read all the related non-Hickman written issues to understand the story but you want to. It’s a good cap to the end of the story Hickman has been telling not only from Avengers but all the way back to SHIELD. Also, just like in Time Runs Out you start to see where he lays the seeds for what he later does in X-Men. There is one more episode we’re doing in this Hickman series and it will be to cover Hickman’s run on X-Men and the new dynamic he created for mutants in the Marvel Universe. We didn't plan this but its May and our 75th Character Corner just happens to be the start of our Chris Claremont X-Men series and Claremont started his 17 year X-Men run in May 1975. It's like we were meant to do this. This is probably going to be the closest you get to us doing an X-Men comics podcast. We start at the beginning with Claremont's Phoenix saga which really covers 44 issues to truly understand Jean's evolution as the Phoenix. It fleshes out Jean, her relationship/friendship/sisterhood with Ororo (Storm) and her roommate Misty Knight (yeah...Jean was rooming with Misty Knight). We see that Charles Xavier is kinda an asshole, the first appearance of the Shi'ar, how the new X-Men come together as a family and so much more. Having reread this it makes what Fox has done with two attempts at the Dark Phoenix storyline infuriating. The Phoenix saga isn't about how Jean becomes so powerful she loses control. It's about how Jean Grey sacrifices herself to save her family. Twice. She dies and is reborn as the Phoenix out of love to save the X-Men. The path to her becoming the Dark Phoenix is a slow burn of betrayal. But even then, it ends with her gaining control thanks to her family's willingness to sacrifice everything for her and in the end she sacrifices her life again to save the X-Men. Black Adam

We wrap up our creator spotlight on Jonathan Hickman with him destroying and rewriting the Marvel Universe(s). Hickman's Avengers run is so good because it ties in with his previous work with the Fantastic Four and S.H.I.E.L.D. perfect and really brings everything home. We're back to discuss the character of Sam Wilson, aka Falcon aka Captain America. This was an interesting and fun Character Corner to do because both Dpalm and I learned a lot of new things about Sam Wilson that we never knew before. We had a lot of preconceived notions about the character particularly his Snap Wilson past. We're continuing our Summer of Character Corner expansions with a new Character Corner/Comic Book Book Club hybrid. We're kicking off our discussion of Jonathan Hickman's Marvel run by discussing his wonderful Fantastic Four Run. Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four Run - Character Corner #57

We’re finally here. The end of our Claremont X-Men run here on the Character Corner. We started this almost 6 months ago. To be fair we took a few detours and breaks but we’re wrapping it up now. Honestly, this has been one of our favorite series of episodes and not just because we got to talk about the X-Men. Rereading Claremont’s run and what he was able to do really exposed how much of the traits of the X-Men come from his time on the series. And even though this took us 5 episodes (4 on the X-Men and one on the New Mutants) by the end, we still only scratched the surface. We barely touched Excalibur and we didn’t revisit the Wolverine series that Claremont was also writing at the time. There’s just so much.For this last run we cover the 19 remaining issues of New Mutants that Claremont wrote before handing off to Louise Simonson (who deserves a lot of credit for what she wrote in New Mutants and X-Factor running parallel to Claremont), the lead up to and through X-tinction Agenda, the Muir Island Saga with the return of the Shadow King and then the first 3 issues of the 1991 X-Men book. The Trauma of the New Mutants - New Mutants #35 - 54 We last left off the New Mutants they had just returned from Asgard and Magneto, fresh off his trial, was now headmaster of Xavier’s school. Now in Part 3 of our series, we touch on some of the later stuff that happens with the New Mutants when Simonson is writing but for these 19 issues, it’s important to note that Claremont focused on the trauma of the students as well as the growth of Magneto. To say the New Mutants up to this point have been put through the ringer is an understatement. While we only covered it briefly, Secret Wars 2 is a traumatizing event for the students because…they die. The Beyonder basically uses them as his play things and so Magneto is left trying to not only earn their trust as their headmaster but cut through the core of their PTSD. Throw in the always scheming Emma Frost and the completely terrible Empath and the job of Erik gets even harder. Claremont’s run on New Mutants can really be summed up as an exploration of young teen mutants trying to navigate a world that hates them while still trying to be kids. X-tinction Agenda Back on the X-Men side, the X-Men themselves aren’t fairing that much better. While they’ve taken over the old Reaver’s base in Australia and are fresh off of Inferno, things start taking a turn. The Reavers and Lady Deathstroke strike back and crucify Wolverine. Betsy uses the Siege Perilous to escape the trap set by the Reavers which will later have some pretty disastrous consequences. The results are what lead to Betsy being captured by the Hand and having her body switched with that of an Asian woman, Colossus becoming a painter and later being manipulated and controlled by the Shadow King and then Havok becoming a Magistrate for the Genoshians. This is the backdrop leading into X-Tinction Agenda which sees Cameron Hodge teaming up with the Genoshians to get his revenge on the X-Men. While the X-Men are able to beat Hodge, the New Mutant’s Warlock is one of the early casualties.During this time, we also get introduced to other X-Men that will eventually become mainstays on future X-Teams. A young Chinese American mutant named Jubilee shows up in issue #244. Gambit makes a cameo in Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 and Uncanny X-Men #266.This is Storm’s StoryOne of the things that cannot be understated his how much Claremont’s X-Men run is really about Storm. Ororo is a constant presence in Claremont’s run. Before X-Tinction Agenda, Storm is thought to be dead but is really stripped of her memory and put in a young girl’s body. This is where she meets up with Gambit while being pursued by the Shadow King. While she gains her memories back, for a while she’s still left in that young girl’s body with limited control of her powers. Yet she’s still leader of the X-Men. Claremont makes it abundantly clear how important she is.

Claremont X-Men Part 4 Birth of the Blue & Gold Teams

That’s right it's Cyclops and Havok time. Any chance we can get to talk X-Men, we’re going to leap at it. This was a fun episode to do because Cyclops and Havok have such long and rich histories not only with the X-Men but X-Factor as well. Scott Summers first appeared in X-Men #1 and Alex debuted in issue #54. Scott starts off as the boy scout and natural leader while Alex is more reluctant to lead and a bit more rebellious. Throughout their history in the comic books though, they gradually switch places as Alex becomes more of a team player &amp; leader and Scott becomes a revolutionary. Some of Scott’s decisions through the years are tough to defend. After marrying Madelyne Pryor (the clone of Jean Grey), he ends up abandoning her and their child when he finds out Jean Grey is still alive. It’s a real shitty move. Years later, while recovering from Apocalypse messing with his head, he starts cheating on Jean psychically with Emma Frost. Hey, he might be a great team leader but his love life leaves a lot to be desired. But once mutant kind is facing extinction, it’s hard not to see why Scott makes some of the choices he does. You might not be full Team ‘Cyclops Was Right’ but the extreme choices makes are a direct result of having the weight of the entire mutant race on his soldiers. There are a few things we don’t cover here. First, we don’t cover the young, time displaced Cyclops. He’s basically become his own separate character and we might cover him at a later date. Second, the Summers bloodline is actually pretty complex and A LOT. So we limit this discussion to just Scott and Alex (with a touch of Gabriel). We’re going to cover Nathan (Cable) later on this year closer to Deadpool 2. Appearing in 1962 in Amazing Fantasy 15, Peter Parker broke from tradition by featuring a high school student as the lead superhero. At the time, most teenagers were just sidekicks to the main hero of the story. “With Great Power There Must Also Come Great Responsibility”The early runs of Amazing Spider-Man holds up pretty well considering its age. The early issues are basically a gauntlet of what will eventually become one of the greatest rogue galleries in comics (for a full breakdown listen to our Spider-Man Rogues Character Corner). But beyond just the introduction of his villains, these issues also define why having a young Spider-Man is so important. The famous line "With Great Power There Must Also Come Great Responsibility” has been retconned to have been words spoken by Uncle Ben to Peter. however originally, this is just a line written as a narration on the final panel in amazing Fantasy 15. But starting with Amazing Spider-Man #1, we see Peter struggling with balancing the power he has and what his responsibilities are. It’s easy to see why Spider-Man resonated so much with young kids. Peter has the power of a superhero but has to deal with being teased at school, going to school and maintaining his grades, helping to support his aunt who is struggling to pay bills and more every day life issues. On top of that, he’s constantly surrounded by people who only like part of him not the whole. Flash Thompson bullies Peter Parker but idolizes Spider-Man. Betty Brant loves Peter but isn’t too sure of this Spider-Man character. The only person that treats Peter/Spider-Man the same is really J Jonah Jameson and that’s because he treats both equally terrible.If This Be My Destiny &amp; Spider-Man No MoreIssues 31 - 33 kick off an important mini-arc for Peter as well as introduce characters that will have a significant impact on his life. It’s Peter’s first day in college and we’re introduced to characters Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn and Miles Warren. We’re back with another Character Corner and this time we’re covering the Inhumans. First off, let’s make it clear that we’re mainly focused on the Royal Family of the Inhumans. The “Nuhumans” or the Inhumans created on earth due to the Terrigen bomb that Black Bolt sets off during the events of Infinity are definitely a separate category. We might cover some of the more famous “Nuhumans” in a later episode. But for this, we’re focused mostly on the Royals:Black Bolt - The King with a voice that’s so powerful it can destroy planets 	Medusa - The Queen with serious hair issues 	Maximus the Mad - The king’s mad brother who can also control minds 	Crystal - Medusa’s sister with elemental powers 	Gorgon - Head of security and has bull’s legs and hooves that can create intense earthquake like shockwaves 	Triton - He’s a giant fish. Think Klaus from American Dad with legs and arms 	Karnark - Chief strategist and hasn’t been exposed to the mists so he technically doesn’t have powers. But he has developed an extrasensory ability to perceive stress points, weaknesses and faults in objects and people 	Lockjaw - The teleporting family pet dog who we’re pretty sure was a normal looking human being before he was exposed to the mists a turned into a petWe settled on going through the history of the Inhumans because of the new TV show coming out. Right now it doesn’t seem to be getting great reviews from the IMAX screening of it (a stupid idea to do anything cheap and in IMAX) but I’ve heard that it’s not that bad from others who have seen it. I will say this, after going through some early Inhumans comics, I can definitely see why (even out side of the technical aspects of the TV show), doing a show centered on the Royal Family is hard to do on TV. I will be blunt: Early Inhumans comics are not good. They are a struggle to read and the includes the Marvel Knights series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee. The problem with early Inhumans stories is that they focus on trying to make the Inhumans earth-based and it just doesn’t work. There are too many unlikable qualities about the Royal Family to do this. First off, they have slaves. The Alpha Primitives that run the lower areas of Attlian are slaves, 100%. The Inhumans also seem to strive for perfection with genetic manipulation and purity (the whole point of the Terrigen Mists in their minds) and it’s very creepy. Now these could definitely make for, and at times do, great stories or interactions. The problem is that most of the older stories also try to paint the Inhumans in the light of being victims of everyone else. To be blunt, its hard to see slave masters and genetic manipulators as victims.It's not all bad though. What the early Inhumans books and story do is weave a complex tale of a population and their rulers and the struggles to figure out who they are and what their purpose is. There are some good stories and threads throughout but if you're looking for a group that are clearly heroes and that you root for, you're going to be disappointed. They're not the X-Men. Not even close.Things change for the better around the time of Secret Invasion and that’s when it becomes clear: The Inhumans and Royal Family are at their best when they’re cosmic. Once the Inhumans really go cosmic and pretty much focus on that, they become interesting and great to read. Not to mention, in space, Black Bolt is finally unchained and can be seen using his powers more frequently and uninhibited. When the Inhumans wipe out the Skrulls then take over the Kree Empire, it's when they're at their best. The War of Kings storyline then Relam of Kings are also really good stories. If Inhumans fails on TV then I can only assume that the next attempt for Marvel will be to reintroduce them in the movies through James Gunn and his dive into the cosmic side of Marvel. Character Corner: The Inhumans Royal Family

We still have to finish up our Peter Parker series but we wanted to take a bit of a detour from Marvel and head over to DC and cover one of the most confusing comic book character histories ever: Hawkman.Now you may be asking yourself “Why Hawkman? Why now?” And that’s a very valid question. Why would we tackle one of the most confusing comic book characters of all time at this point? The answer is simple: Scott Snyder’s Dark Knights: Metal. Snyder wrote an incredible 52 issues of Batman during New 52 and he’s now back with a series that not only answers questions about Batman but also Hawkman, Nth Metal and the rest of the DC Multiverse. While it’s a daunting task to take on Hawkman’s history (one that rarely works out), Snyder definitely has our attention with the first issue of Metal, as well as the preludes Dark Days: The Forge and The Casting.Carter Hall &amp; the Golden AgeHawkman starts off relatively simple. Carter Hall first appears in Flash Comics #1 in 1940 as an archaeologist. After finding and touching an ancient knife that Egyptian priest Hath-Set used to kill his past self, Hall regains his memories of his past life. He realizes he is the reincarnation of Egyptian Prince Khufu. He meets up with Shiera, a woman who reminds him of a woman he saw in his dreams as Khufu who he believes to be Princess Chay-Ara, his long lost love. Using the mysterious metal, Nth Metal, they form harnesses that give them the power of flight. Throughout the years Nth metal has taken on many different qualities, from powering the harnesses the Hawks wear granting them flight to increased strength, regeneration powers and more.Silver Age Space CopThe Silver Age of DC comics brought us new versions of older Golden Age characters. Barry Allen replaces the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick. Hal Jordan becomes the new Green Lantern replacing Alan Scott. The same happens to Hawkman, except DC gets a bit weird. Instead of making an entire new and easily distinguishable character, Brave and the Bold #34 debuts Katar Hol as the new Hawkman. Katar is an alien law enforcement officer from the planet Thanagar. Even worse, Katar and his wife Shayara (they didn’t even try with the names) take on the names Carter Hall and Shiera Saunders as their human secret identities. Adding even more confusion, Silver Age Carter and Shiera also work as archaeologists in a museum. Thus marking the beginning of the confusing history of Hawkman. See, Crisis On Infinite Earths establishes that both Katar Hol (using the alias Carter Hall) and the original Golden Age Carter Hall exist and operate (even met a few times). So now readers have two different Carter Halls to keep track of. But don’t worry, it gets even worse and more confusing.Hawkworld &amp; Things Get Weird (well…weirder)In 1989,  Tim Truman creates a three-issue miniseries called Hawkworld that seemingly retells the origin story of Katar Hol. The mini-series is later turned into an ongoing series written by John Ostrander. It’s a dark, gritty story that gives us the hard-nosed origin of the Thanagarian cop. It’s really good and a recommended read. There’s only one problem: Instead of making this story a simple retelling of Hol’s origin, DC decides that this story was IN canon and happening currently. Problem with that was there was already a Katar Hol running around who was a member of the Justice League International. To fix that, DC claims that the first Katar Hol was actually a deep cover Thanagarian Agent named Fel Andar who married Sharon Parker, an Earth woman who was later mind wiped to believe she was Hawkwoman.  Andar is later exposed and after killing Sharon, returns to Thanagar leaving behind their son Charlie to later cause Hawkman &amp; Hawkgirl all kinds of problems (but now we’re getting ahead of ourselves).Now having made a complete and utter mess of Hawkman’s history,

Teen Titans Part 1: Teen Titans vs Deathstroke

We go over (quickly) the introduction of Carnage and then Peter &amp; Harry's final confrontation. Then its on the one of the most controversial storylines: The second clone saga. No matter where you fall in the debate, we can all agree things got a bit out of control. It's not all bad though since Ben Reilly has become a pretty popular character and so despite the mess, there were some good outcomes. We then get into Civil War, One More Day and where Peter is now. Our Rogue Wars character corner covers a lot of the later issues of Peter so you'll definitely want to check that out.Carnage &amp; the Death of Harry OsbornWe finished our last Character Corner with the first appearance of Venom. I personally think that his next two appearances (Amazing Spider-Man 314-317 &amp; #346-347) are more interesting and defining for the character than issue 300. But that’s just me. Clearly the character was a hit because Marvel decided to up the ante with the introduction of Cletus Kasady &amp; Carnage. This leads to Maximum Carnage which isn’t a very good comic book arc but an excellent and fun video game. So all isn’t lost. More interesting than Carnage is the “final” confrontation between Harry Osborn (as Green Goblin) and Peter.The Mess that is the Second Clone SagaThere’s no way around it but the second Clone Saga is a complete mess.  It’s a great example of how a decent concept can spin out of control when the original plan isn’t stuck to. Just like with Geoff John’s Blackest Night/Brightest Day, it starts off pretty decent but then the sheer number of issues and books required to get an understanding of what happens just overwhelming.That said, there’s a lot of good things from the second clone saga that get over looked. First, I think it was a great idea to have Peter thinking he was the real clone and giving up being Spider-Man in favor of Ben. Sure it probably pissed off fans at the time but I think that fans can have knee jerk reactions to change even if it’s a good overall idea. Think what happened when Otto became Spider-Man and Peter “died”. That was a great story. In this case, Ben Reilly is a really great character. It also added a great dynamic to see Ben taking on classic Spider-Man villains for the first time but struggling because the villains have evolved but he was still fighting them using his memories from the first clone saga. Also, despite the sprawl of books in the second clone saga, there are some really good mini-stories in it. Web of Death is a GREAT Doctor Octopus storyAnd finally there is the return of Norman Osborn. Sure, it probably didn’t make a whole lot of sense and probably should have been done better. But considering all the great things that Norman has been used for since then, this is an example of taking something that was executed poorly and making it great with later stories.When you go and read the Clone Saga mini-series that Tom DeFalco and Howard Mackie wrote in 2009 that followed the original script and boiled it down to 6 issues, you can see how there was a lot of potential there. I won’t say that the second Clone Saga gets unfairly criticized because it was executed poorly but there was definitely a great story buried in there.Civil War &amp; One More DayAfter the Clone Saga, Peter goes through a lot of different changes. Some of them not so great. The Others brings Peter to a weird time where he gets new spider powers like shooting organic webshooters (boooooo). We're back with another Character Corner, this time as a follow up to the Wolverine episode we did here. Despite becoming overused in the Marvel universe, there are actually a lot of good Wolverine stories out there. A lot of the old stuff also holds up pretty well. Some of our favorite writers have also done short runs with Wolverine since there is a massive amount of content out there. In October 2000, Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley launched Ultimate Spider-Man and it quickly became the the ultimate success story for the ultimate line. Benis and Bagley held the record for the longest continual run on a Marvel comic series by two people. Having one creative team for so long allowed Ultimate Spider-Man to take chances and explore the world of a teenage Peter Parker in ways readers hadn’t experienced before. It takes seven issues to retell Peter’s origins, filling in details that were never explored. But not just that, the entire series rebuilds the legacy of Spider-Man from the ground up. And not just with Peter but the entire cast of villains and supporting characters.  Ultimate Spider-Man is a complete rebooting of Spider-Man, not a retelling. We’re finally back with another Character Corner. Sorry for the delays, been having a lot going on outside of the network and so it’s taken us a while to get back to where we need to be. One thing that's incredible about the life of Ultimate Universe Peter Parker is that from the moment he's bit to his death, it's really only about 2 years in story. In that context. Kriss and Dpalm are back with another Character Corner episode. This time its Part 1 of a two part series on the Robins. We’ve covered most of the Robins already in previous episodes like Batman's Rogue Gallery, Tim Drake, all the Batgirl episodes and our three part Batman series. But we’ve never really dug deep into each of the Robins and gone into their differences and how they tell the larger story of Batman.We’re starting with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd not just because chronologically they were the first two robins but also because they represent the larger issues we’ve seen with Batman &amp; DC Comics when they get translated to movies and TV. Everyone knows Dick Grayson is the first Robin but the reality is, by the time most of us were reading comics and aware of Batman, Grayson was far removed from being Robin. Same could be said for Jason Todd. Jason was first introduced in 1983 and was killed off in 1988. The first two Robins came and went before most people today were even 10. And that’s where we see DC getting into trouble. The mantle of Robin is almost just as important and divisive as Batman. There isn't another sidekick character in which you have 4-5 drastically different character holding the title and all of them are just about important. Dick, Jason, Tim/Stephanie and Damien. We’re gonna go through each Robin and talk not just about some of their key issues but really dive into how they’re different from each other, and the role they play in Bruce/Batman’s life.
