In the late 2000â€™s Box Hill Institutestaff were converting their cassettes to CD when they stumbled across a strangecassette along with a Polaroid. All that was written in the inside cover was;â€˜Saltman â€“ Lessons in Suburban Life &amp; Deathâ€™. Staff were intrigued to findout that â€˜Saltmanâ€™ was never registered as a teacher and none of his studentscan be traced. The only reference on the recording is to an ex teacher, ChrisGafney who retired in 1999. Chris was contacted and only recalls sighting atall blonde man loitering on the top floor of the Whitehorse road campus lateat night talking to 3-4 Indonesian students, assuming he was either a cleaneror cheap security guard. All thatâ€™s left are these bizarre recordings, a manwho is clearly living on the edge of the night and is heading towards insanity.His lessons are not only disturbing but enthralling and historical, giving us aglimpse into a lost world of the eastern suburbs.
