If you haven’t noticed, the lead story on every newscast is how the winter storms have been affecting life and livelihood from coast to coast.  It has certainly caused upheaval upon the sport of thoroughbred racing.  We will discuss how it impacts the day-to-day scheduling of races, postponements and health of the horses themselves with trainer Jeff Greenhill who has been facing the situation daily from his base in Northern Kentucky.Our guest handicapper is the popular Ed Meyer, who serves as a racing official in Kentucky.  The unpredictable storms have affected that side of the racing game also.  Ed joins John to analyze several rescheduled stakes races in the U.S. and look at the major players going to post in the world’s richest race, the $20 million Saudi Cup. They will give their selections in the G2 $200,000 Buena Vista at Santa Anita; the G3 $100,000 Royal Delta from Gulfstream; and the rescheduled G3  2 stakes from Laurel - the General George and the Barbara Fritchie Stakes.

John Engelhardt will host three guests this week. Newly appointed Editorial Director at the Daily Racing Form to lead its national editorial operation based in New York, Mark Simon will be our first guest. He will tell us a little about his new responsibilities and what plans he has for the publication. Peviously the founding editor of Thoroughbred Times, he was hired by Dick Broadbent, owner of Bloodstock Research, at the time to start the publication. Under his direction the Thoroughbred Times was published weekly for 27 years, until its demise. Our second guest Marty McGee has been covering the Kentucky and Florida circuits for the Daily Racing Form since 1992. He will give us an inside track on the main contenders for this year's Kentucky Derby and handicap some of this week-end's stakes races - the Spiral and Bourbonette Stakes from Turfway Park and the Sunland Park Derby from Sunland Park. Our third guest will be trainer Jeff Greenhill. He is the hometown hope with multiple stakes winner 'Mac the Man' in the Spiral Stakes.

In an age where many horses are retiring at 3, Jeff has the unique ability to keep horses sound.  A graduate of Auburn University, Greenhill decided at age 38 to indulge in his dream of training horses.  Starting as a hotwalker for D. Wayne Lukas, Greenhill today is big on putting together partnerships and taking advantage of state-bred programs.  He will share with us his journey since those early days.  In the second segment, previous host of this show Ed Meyer will help us handicap the most important races this week-end. Races on tab: On Friday - the two Divisions of the $150.000 Grade III Pin Oak Valley View at Keeneland, on Saturday - the $250,000 Grade II Lexus Raven Run at Keeneland, and the $500,000 West Virginia Breeders' Classic at Charles Town.
