The digital revolution has pushed corporate operations online. As commerce and consumer behavior takes place on the public web it leaves digital data trails. This vast collection of business detritus is considered alternative data. The collecting, organizing and indexing this of this alternative data is a big business. The global size of the alternative data market is currently projected to grow to $69.3B by 2028. The growth of the industry is primarily driven by asset managers looking for data to power their insights, improve their evaluations and generate excess return. While a smaller segment of the market, other industries are also finding value in using alternative to improve their decision-making and performance. Today we’re speaking with Justin Zhen, the co-founder at Thinknum, an alternative data company that crawls the public web to gather data.
