79:  Girl Chat - Self Care, Health and Routines During Quarantine with Lauren Deckert

Lauren Deckert has lived on five continents working as an international model. Her work as a model has been featured in Harpers Bazaar China, Vogue Italia, Brides, Women’s Health, and Muscle &amp; Fitness, hers. She has been a vegetarian since childhood, thriving on mainly a Plant Based diet. While graduating with a BA in Art History from Fordham University, She decided to study under Joshua Rosenthal at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She also has an AS from The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in Art &amp; Fashion Marketing. All of her experiences and studies have prepared her to not only take exceptional care of herself and her growing family, but also to effectively mentor and coach aspiring models, women and Mama’s. She is a drugless practitioner and certified Health &amp; Nutrition coach. After living out of a suitcase for many years, she opened a private practice in summer of 2016 while she was pregnant with her son. Her practice focuses on working with other models, Model Mama’s, actresses, athletes, and women of all walks of life.  She believes that most modern ailments can be healed by a life rich in whole foods, exercise, faith, and love. After sponsoring a child in Ecuador for years, She created her own non-profit. Models Doing More provides volunteer opportunities for Model Ambassadors wishing to offer assistance to underprivileged school children and orphaned elephants in Sri Lanka. She has a dance background and is a Certified white belt in NIA Dance and is studying Pilates. She is married to her best friend and they are parents to a healthy active toddler.  The Model Mentor mission is to empower, develop, and consult aspiring models, women, and Model Mamas and to act as a guide for those who wish to make positive changes in their lives.SHOWNOTESDefine happiness for you:Happiness is my son. When I look at him experiencing something for the first time. He’s in this state of pure joy. And he’s in the moment and there’s nothing that can distract him. It’s Joy energy- we need to always keep it with us. Morning Routine: I get up at 6:30am, before my son. First thing I do is have my hot water with lemon. Then blue light therapy for 10 minutes (time to pray, meditate, be one with your thoughts). 20 minutes of a mix of stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. Then I’ll have a green drink or fruit on an empty stomach. Or I’ll just wait to eat with my son. Evening Routine: Really about getting my son ready for bed, so I can have time with my husband. 7pm is bath and bedtime. He’s usually asleep by 7:30pm. Then I cook dinner for my husband. And I make a fresh dinner every night. What drew you to essential oils: I was blessed to have family members who used them and introduced me to them. What’s important is that there are oils that you can ingest and those that you can’t. I Use Young Living https://www.youngliving.com/en_US So be careful because there are some oils that you can’t ingest. Make sure it is a therapeutic grade and that you can actually put in your cooking or on your tongue. And what’s your best advice for them?My niche market is models, athletes, and actresses. Their whole life they’ve basically have to keep their body at a sample size 4. And I help them embrace the process of pregnancy and their body change. I help with transforming their thinking and to change these mindsets to have a positive mindset and lifestyle.And then with post pregnancy: Slowing down what they do. It takes time to get your body back.
