Richard Sirgiovanni:  Music and cartoons were always forefront for Richard Sirgiovanni. At a very early age Richard saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. The impact was life altering. Richard, was already an avid reader of comics, but now at seven years old began playing drums and drawing.  These parallel roads created a self-taught drummer/cartoonist who whilst listening to rock n roll music copied everything he saw from newspaper comic strips to Marvel/DC comic books.Richard’s interest in popular music and drawing continued as he was accepted to the prestigious School of Visual Arts in Manhattan where he studied cartooning and storytelling under Harvey Kurtzman (co-founder of Mad Magazine) and Will Eisner, (creator of The Spirit comics).    Simultaneously, Richard played drums in an original rock band in New York City.  The band was voted one of the top original acts by The Soho News.  He crossed paths on the club scene with Madonna, Jon Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Cyndi Lauper and The Stray Cats.Richard continued freelancing in art and music as a cartoonist becoming an award winning Creative Director in the advertising field.  Having this deep passion for storytelling and music he thought to create an original idea combing rock n roll and cartoons…. Something magical and fun for kids with a positive message. Richard Sirgiovanni is the creative mastermind of Sirg productions and the brilliant and lovable upcoming TV series and major motion picture THE GRIMPS.   His passion as a cartoonist set the foundation to kickstart the children's animated rock n roll TV show.  By night they're 4 cool, charming, irrepressible musicians on the verge of stardom. By day, they're hairy, scary and tiny. They lived 500 years ago, cursed by the evil Spectar because he was jealous of their music and celebrity. So he cursed and turned them into ugly little grimps, to be banished from society for eternity. Until 500 years later their friend and wizard, Magic Alex found a temporary spell to change them back to humans, but from only sunset to sunrise…but with one glitch, they are still tiny…here comes The Grimps to sing and laugh their way into your hearts. You might also remember our previous guest Dylan Sirgiovanni – Richard’s son.  There is nothing more special than passing down the fire to create the life we love from generation to generation. If you had to battle Godzilla, how would you use your creativity or talents to defeat him?   Being a cartoonist, I would take my big eraser out and erase him as he comes.   Favorite Quotes and Advice:   ·       When you are putting up a show, in the beginning, you’ll be wearing all the hats but that’s the fun part..the creative process is the fun part. ·       The hardest part of creating an animated show is that it’s so expensive. You can’t just go out there and produce an episode as easily as people may think. ·       I stay focused on the belief that this is going to happen and when a thought of negativity comes in, I knock it out. It can happen tomorrow so just don’t give up. Life is too short to do something mundane and something that you don’t like. That’s not living. ·       Just do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.
