The Henry and Stark County Health Department announced on Monday that Henry County had surpassed 300 individual confirmed cases of COVID-19, 304 to be exact. That means that there have been 111 cases in Henry County in the month of August alone. The rising numbers of COVID-19 coinciding as it does with kids going back to school has raised many concerns about Henry County remaining fully in Phase 4 of the Governor's re-opening plan. We talked to RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department about what people need to know about the Governor's regional restrictions that could come into play if numbers continue to rise in Henry County.

RaeAnn Tucker Henry County Over 300 Cases

The Henry and Stark County Health Department recorded 21 more positive tests for COVID-19 over the second weekend of August. That brings the total for the month to more than 40 already, just 11 days into August. RaeAnn Tucker joined WKEI to go over the latest numbers and to promote the use of masks. Mask wearing may not be fun but it keeps COVID-19 from spreading via the droplets that come out of your mouth when you speak or breathe or especially if you cough or sneeze. Your mask isn't about protecting you as much as it is about protecting others by keeping potentially infected droplets confined to masks as opposed to constantly landing on common touch surfaces where they can be picked up and infect someone else.

Cases of COVID-19 in Henry County are spiking upward. In July, Henry County added 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19. That was more than the previous 3 and a half months combined, during which time there were just 93 cases of COVID-19. And now, August is off to a fast start in terms of confirmed cases. The Henry and Stark County Health Department confirmed 15 new cases of COVID-19 just this past weekend. Now, that said, RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department's advice is not to obsess about the numbers but to obsess about making sure you don't become a number on this tally yourself. That means, wearing a mask, social distancing, hand washing, and covering your coughs and sneezes.
