Robin discusses personhood, as it applies to corporations and embryos—but not quite so much to women, Native Americans, or African-American slaves of the antebellum American South—and finds in the Constitution a perplexing suggestion that the taxes one pays (or doesn't) may be deeply linked to whether, or how much, a person is a person.
