What better way to celebrate International Women's Day (8th of March 2022) than to hear from three talented and inspiring activists in the Independence movement.In this episode Drew is joined by independence campaigners and women's rights champions Sue Lyons, Sally Donald and Charlotte Armitage. We hear from all three on why International Women's Day is such an important day to them and find out their thoughts on the challenges women still face in the workplace, politics and in society. This special International Women's Day episode is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women to our movement, our communities and our society - but also to keep shining a light on the many biases women face day in day out.Some key stats from this episode:  50% of women are in entry-level jobs but that reduces to 22% as they go up the ladder The World Economic Forum Gender Gap Report estimates that on the current trajectory, it will now take 135.6 years to close the gender gap worldwide. It also reports that it will take 145.5 years to attain gender parity in politics and women represent only 26.1% of some 35,500 parliament seats.International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality."IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people.
