Austin writers Amanda Moore and Gina E. Springer Shirley are both working on their first novels with female protagonists. In Moore’s novel, her protagonist is an attorney with two clients on death row who discovers there is more than guilt and innocence at stake.  And in Shirley ‘s novel in progress, her protagonist is a single mother with a budding career not interested in romance, but is surprised when two men enter her life.In our interview they read from their novels in progress, discussed writers and novels they love, and their paths to becoming writers. Amanda Moore has practiced law for 14 years and in 2015, won first place in the Texas Bar Journal Short Story Contest for her story, “The CornerAfter a career in educational publishing, Gina E. She was a Romance finalist in the 2015 Writers’ League of Texas Manuscript Contest and winner of the 2020 Yellow Bird Editors First Page Contest.Both are board members of the Writers League of Texas.
