Our guests this morning are Valerie Hill and Lynne Gross from the Roundhouse Aquarium.Valerie Hill is the Administrative Director and Education Specialist for the Roundhouse Aquarium. She began at the Roundhouse in 2003 as a volunteer. She worked her way up to paid part-time staff, then became the co-director in 2007.  Before joining the Roundhouse team, Valerie honed her teaching skills as an Outreach Educator for the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, a Teaching Assistant at Long Beach State, a tutor through the University of San Diego, and a swim instructor in Albuquerque where she grew up. Valerie studied phytoplankton at CSULB where she earned her MS degree in 2008.Lynne Gross is the immediate past president of the Roundhouse Aquarium Board of Directors. She joined the Board in 2009 after retiring from a career as a college professor and TV producer. One of the projects she has undertaken for the aquarium is to research its history and publish a book about its early days during the 1970s and 1980s.  Lynne and her husband Paul Gross have lived on the strand in Manhattan Beach for 55 years and she believes in giving back.
