Eimear Quinn is an incredibly talented Irish singer who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996 with the song “The Voice”. Her debut album brought her to the attention of Sir George Martin, legendary producer of The Beatles, who signed her to his publishing company. It was the era of ethno and the era of Ireland in Eurovision. Composer Brendan Graham had won two years prior, in 1994 with "Rock'n'roll Kids", a song that had been submitted before but refused, and in 1996 he went for and pulled off the same trick again with previously refused "The Voice". Eimear Quinn shot to fame in 1996, winning the Eurovision award for Ireland. Since then, she's gone on to have a successful music career, touring all over the planet. She recently released her fourth solo studio album, "Ériu", an orchestral record of Irish music. She spoke to FRANCE 24's Florence Villeminot about how the coronavirus crisis has affected her musical projects and what it's been like to revisit "The Voice", the song that brought her world fame in 1996.
