Dr. Mitchell Elkind is a Professor of neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as well as an attending neurologist in the stroke service at New York Presbyterian Hospital. His areas of expertise are cerebrovascular disease and stroke. He completed his medical school training at Harvard Medical School. His internship was at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA and was followed by a residency in neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital where he served as chief resident. Dr. Elkind subsequently obtained a master’s degree in epidemiology at the Columbia University School of Public Health and also completed fellowship training in cerebrovascular diseases.  In the second of a two-part Grand Rounds, Dr. Elkind reviews occult atrial fibrillation, monitoring devices, and other relevant areas after which there is a Q&amp;A.
