Debijo Works as an interior designer by transforming furnishings or complete renovations, She is also passionate about using her design expertise to help seniors age in place safely with beauty and function. 30 years prior, Debijo worked as a nurse in orthopedics and oncology, and the need to see those aging in a safe and beautiful environment became her mission. She was happily married for almost 27 years. Today she is here to talk about her journey helping to care for her husband who passed away from leukemia after a 20-year battle.

Ep. 20: The need to see those aging in a safe and beautiful environment with Debi Jo Wheatley

I had an amazing time with Debi Jo’s on a recent episode of The Dating Advisory Board. Debi Jo’s passion for decor and design has guided her in becoming certified in Home Staging and Redesign. Originally starting out in nursing for the past 30 years and with flexible hours, it has afforded her time for her passion, artistic painting of rooms and furniture. Designs by Debijo, and her creative art business was very successful for 11 years with artwork and furniture in the United States, England, Canada, and Korea.Expanding to renovation with area contractors, she has been able to design high-end kitchens and baths in the DC Metro area, as well as working on a ski home in Seven Springs, PA, a corporate retreat in West Virginia, as well as homes in New York and Florida. Debi Jo’s design background as well as nursing, she became a specialist in Aging in Place, working with “baby boomers” in renovating homes with functional, high-end design. Her belief is that you can have a functional space without losing the beauty and that no one should ever have to leave their home out of necessity. Her motto is “Great design is making sense of your desires!”
