The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step. What if, however, you want to take that journey and turn it into several thousand- or even tens of thousands of steps to leverage your impact as a pharmacist globally and serve as a medical missionary? Speaking as a pharmacist who had the honor of being a part of a medical mission trip in Honduras myself, I cannot begin to express the level of gratitude, self-discovery, and joy that serving as a pharmacist can dispense to the lives we are honored to interact with. That’s why when I found another pharmacist who has not just served on ONE mission trip, but several, and even serves on the board of directors for an annual medical mission!Lauren Boudreau, PharmD, graduated from the University of New England College of Pharmacy in Portland, Maine in 2014 and currently works at a small community hospital in Massachusetts as an inpatient pharmacist.
