Inside Mizzou Athletics - Talking Hoops with WBB Assistant Preston Beverly

Preston Beverly was named the Head Women's Basketball Coach on July 19, 2021.Beverly brings a wealth of spiritual, academic, and basketball leadership to Evangel where he becomes the seventh head coach in program history. Most recently, he spent the last two seasons as the head coach of 16U and 14U Nike Girls EYBL Team in New York. He also served as an assistant coach for the 17U team where he coached four high major players ranked in the ESPN Top 50. In 2019, Beverly served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Hofstra University with the women's basketball team.  Beverly played collegiately at NCAA Division I Virginia Military Institute where he was one of the top defensive players in the Big South Conference. He played professionally in the inaugural National Professional Basketball League in 2007 for the Hudson Valley Hawks leading them to the NPBL championship where he was the team's leading rebounder. Beverly graduated from VMI in 2006 with a degree in computer science and a minor in psychology and math, reaching the ranks of S-6 Lieutenant. He and his wife Danielle have three children.

Episode 218 - On this episode, we had a specific coaches panel and played “out of the hat” as we drew random topics and presented them to our experienced and knowledgeable panel.  Our guests did an excellent job answering the various topics and show why they are the new basketball head coaches at Evangel University.  Coach Bert Capel will be leading the Men’s Basketball team after serving as an assistant to Coach Steve Jenkins.  Coach Capel is not only familiar with the roster, the conference, the Evangel way as a coach, but as a former player, too.  He will bring a wealth of knowledge and energy to the helm.  Coach Preston Beverly may be new to Evangel and Springfield, Missouri but he is very enthusiastic about a talented roster and challenging schedule.  He has big plans for Evangel and his energy is contagious.  Both of these talented coaches are ready for action at Evangel, and we wish them the best! Our next show we catch back up with our local horseshoe expert, Mark Kiser along with…Melanie Zerr (Women’s State Champion), Stanton Griggs (Men’s State Champion) and Alan Francis (25-time WORLD Champion) We are going to talk about pitching horseshoes!
