Esther was a remarkable lady. She was born with some handicaps but she didn’t let them stop or discourage her, she was a cheerful soul. She was contented, and at peace with how things were. Esther may not have moved gracefully or easily, but she did move. She had limitations, what can a person with limitations do for others? God values and uses small things. Things that man would call insignificant, unimportant, and foolish even. 1 Corinthians 1:27 – God often uses what to man are small, unimportant, unimpressive things to further His purpose. Esther was a useful member of the Kingdom. Small things are great when offered with devotion, God uses faithful, devoted people, regardless of what they appear to have to offer. Esther did faithfully what she could, God blessed her for that, and He used her to bless others. Though she was handicapped, she had a heart of gold. She fully embraced a simple gospel and had a strong faith in Christ. Psalm 23 – God was with Esther all of her life, He showed her goodness and mercy. She is with her in His presence, with her forever. Esther loved Jesus, and she followed Jesus. There was a kindness and an interest in people in Esther that was attractive to others. She was always ready to listen to the troubles that people shared with her. She ministered to and encouraged many people offering comfort and blessing. Esther prayed a lot, she had a long list of family and others who she prayed for often. She was a pillar in this church, for the support and the prayers she offered. A pillar isn’t necessarily about prominence, but its main function is support. Her prayers and encouragement and support were very supportive to us as a church. Esther would say, “I sing, I pray, I chase the devil away.” God watched Esther serve, God noticed. John 4:1-3 – Jesus is preparing a place for those who love Him and who are devoted to Him and love others. Esther wanted to get back home while she was in the hospital, and though she didn’t make it back to her home here on earth, she is home, finally and forever home. 1 John 3 – People who love Jesus and are living for Jesus don’t live for themselves or for the world. We can have confidence when a saint passes away that they have gone to be with Jesus. We also have faith that someday Jesus is coming for those who are redeemed.
