Linda Pura, Co-founder of the LA Chapter of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, joins the show to talk about the Race for the Cure with Mark Alyn. The LA Chapter of Susan G. Komen is celebrating its 30th year of Race for the Cure. 75% of funds raised go back into the local community and 25% goes back to the National level to support research. 

Services Komen LA funds include mammograms; early detection outreach and education for at-risk and underserved groups including African Americans, Latinas and women under 40; and support for breast cancer patients. This year, Komen LA County will provide funding for over 3,500 vital breast cancer services to over 2,300 individuals because of money raised at the Komen LA County Race for the Cure and other fundraising efforts of the Affiliate.

Here are some stunning statistics on why we Race for the Cure: 

One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
Because every minute, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer.
And because, breast cancer knows no boundaries- be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location.
We continue to Race because at the current rate, 13 million breast cancer deaths around the world will occur in the next 25 years.
