They chat about Cal's past directing experience with Cirque Du Soleil, Spiegelworld, and Giffords Circus as well as his philosophy on creation and clowning. The adventure continues!Please welcome Award Winning Comedy &amp; Theatre Director - Cal McCrystal - Director of many seminal Theatre, Opera, Circus &amp; Film Productions."One Man Two Guvnors" +  "Gifford's Circus" to name but two of very many others, which have collectively won him the accolade of being:"Britain's Funniest Comedy Director" The Guardian.Hurrah!A wonderfully warm conversation indeed - with a touching tribute also to Nell Gifford in Cal's talking about his long standing Artistic relationship - as ongoing Resident Director with the glorious institution and Circus phenomenon that is Gifford's Circus.The founder of England’s Giffords Circus, Nell Gifford (1974-2019) wrote: "A good circus is a sublimely existential thing, living acutely and only for the present moment." She also wrote: "A good circus should make you cry." She created a circus conform to these ideas, a circus with a soul, which understands its purpose. In time, Giffords Circus has generated an amazingly faithful and enthusiastic following in the countryside of the south of England—not a large territory, but Nell Gifford wanted hers to be a "village-green circus." Libby Purves meets Will Moult, a Romanian orphan who was adopted by a British couple after the fall of the Ceausescu regime; actor Diana Quick; theatre director Cal McCrystal and sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green.Will Moult was adopted by a British couple in 1990 after the fall of the Ceausescu regime in Romania. More than 20 years later he returns to the country in search of his birth mother for an ITV1 documentary, From Romania with Love.Actor Diana Quick is appearing in Richard Greenberg's The American Plan at the Theatre Royal Bath. Diana's repertoire ranges from Troilus and Cressida to The Threepenny Opera. She has also curated the Aldeburgh Documentary Festival. The American Plan is at The Ustinov Studio, Theatre Royal Bath.Cal McCrystal is directing Alan Ayckbourn's Mr Whatnot at the Royal &amp; Derngate Theatre in Northampton. He is a physical comedy specialist who worked on One Man, Two Guvnors and the Sacha Baron Cohen film The Dictator. A former clown, he also works with physical theatre company Spymonkey and Cirque du Soleil. Mr Whatnot is at the Royal &amp; Derngate, Northampton.Nic Fiddian-Green is a sculptor known for his equine sculptures, notably his striking head of a drinking horse at Marble Arch - a permanent work of art for London. His latest work, Christ Rests In Peace, is a continuation of his quest to create the face of Christ. It is an 8 foot head of Jesus cast in lead with the crown of thorns and finished in gold leaf. The sculpture is on display at Southwark Cathedral in London during Lent and Holy Week.Producer: Paula McGinley.
