Triste coïncidence… Nous publions par hasard cet épisode le lendemain d’un nouvel attentat à Bruxelles. Tous nos hommages aux victimes. 🙏Fils de parents expats, Sébastien est belge mais né au Brésil. Il grandit aux quatre coins du monde et se trouve rapidement une passion pour le basketball. Il a un vrai talent, il devient joueur professionnel et intègre l’équipe nationale de Belgique. 🏀Il apprend à bosser, à s’entrainer dure tout en gardant le plaisir du sport et surtout à travailler son mental. “Dans le haut niveau, il faut pousser le physique au maximum, mais le mental ça reste 70% de la performance”. 🧠Après sa carrière sportive, il devient entrepreneur et ça lui réussit tout aussi bien. Il monte une boite, puis la revends. Il est aussi papa de deux petites filles. Bref, la belle vie… 👌Puis vient le 22 mars 2016. Le jour du double attentat terroriste à Bruxelles. Et Sébastien se trouvait justement dans l’aéroport ce jour là, à 5m de la deuxième bombe qui lui déchire les jambes. Il perds 50% de son sang et a clairement failli y rester. Mais Sebastien, dans un instinct de survie, parvient à adopter les bons réflexes et s’en tire de justesse. 🚑La rééducation est très longue mais son mental d’athlète de haut niveau l’aide beaucoup. Il se considère comme un survivant et pas comme une victime. Sebastien Bellin is a Brazilian-Belgian former professional basketball player who played in the top European leagues for over 15 years. On 22 March 2016, he got severely injured in the Brussels Airport terrorist bombings, where he almost lost both legs and near to 50% of his total blood volume. This accident left him unable to walk let alone continue his basketball career. His positive attitude towards life made him recover remarkably fast. Today Sebastien is training to run the iconic Ironman of Hawaii, despite his still reduced mobility. He pivoted from being a professional basketbal player to being an inspirator to many. He launched Team Bellin, an innovative community and platform whose mission is to create a working blueprint for people to overcome their handicap(s). In these days where people around the world are faced with the Corona enemy, with a feeling of anxiety and loss of control there a few people better placed to give advice on how we can all keep focus in the midst of distraction.
