He was drafted into the US Army's 4th Infantry Division, serving as a combat correspondent in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. Radio, War, Music, and Writing with Obie Yadgar

For many years,  Obie Yadgar was most of the best-known 'voices' of classical music radio programs in the Midwest,  with stints at both WFMR in Milwaukee and WNIB in Chicago.   His book "Will's Music" was initially published in 2005.   I am guessing that this interview was done around that time.
