On today’s episode, I’m chatting with Quinton Jacobs. My first run-in with Quinton was when he gave me a gift card in Lululemon, which demonstrates his pay-it-forward attitude. Quinton is a Lululemon ambassador and fuel technician who is very involved in the community and just an all-around incredible human being! He is also the father of three children and always strives to see the positive in any situation that comes his way - he truly lives to serve others and make an impact in their lives. He is a special human and I know today’s episode will give you all the feels as it did for me - have a listen!On this episode we dive into: Serving your children in a way that allows them to appreciate what they have, but also changing the narrative of their future, from that of your past. Choose “your core people” wisely and then support the heck out of them them - and also, let them support you. What encouraged Quinton to want to help others and be highly involved in the community.How to look at the positives in any situation to help benefit your future.Making an impact on people’s lives without sharing it or knowing it.How to find balance when you feel like you’re ready to take on more.Overcoming hard times in your life with a new perspective. The take-home: It feels good to give back. Quinton believes strongly in having a pay-it-forward mindset. During these difficult times especially, as people navigate through the heaviness of a new way of living, he believes that if you can just make one person smile - it’s the gift that keeps on giving. He strongly believes in leaving people better than you found them because you just never know what they are going through. It can be difficult to get involved right now due to the current social distancing rules, but you can still find ways to make huge impacts on people’s lives even if it may seem small. “Don’t let this pandemic hold you back from what you’re passionate about,” he shares. “We need to appreciate everyone navigating through these times in their own headspace. If you search for the word “community” in the dictionary, you’ll likely find a picture of Quinton Jacobs and his captivating smile. Q, as his friends call him, is a community builder, a connector, and advocate for promoting the health and wellness of children in the Greater Toronto Area. In this episode, Q opens up about his life growing up in subsidized housing and later on becoming a father with three kids. We’ll then discuss how a difficult time in his life changed his perspective and ignited a passion to help others. Q also shares his approach to working with charities and brands and the time he convinced a bunch of runners to run from Toronto to NYC! Q’s impact on the running community can be seen in the many programs he started or supports, but it’s even more evident in the faces of the children he coaches to run. It was a real privilege speaking with Q and we couldn’t help feeling inspired throughout the episode!
