I’m pretty sure up until a recent move, I still had the hand-dyed vintage slips that Nancy dyed, which I wore as dresses - because it was early 00’s and we were so grunge. How many vintage stores do you know of that have been open that long? I’m convinced it’s due to her genuine passion for what she does and why she does it - and that everyone recognizes that. Artiste sonore, Nancy Tobin détient une maîtrise en art dramatique de l’Université du Québec à Montréal.À titre de conceptrice sonore, elle participe à plusieurs projets depuis 25 ans, dans le milieu de la dansecontemporaine et du théâtre.De 1997 à 2011, elle conçoit les systèmes de diffusion vocale sur plusieurs projets de UBU compagnie decréation. Son approche se distingue par le fait que la voix même si amplifiée, doit toujours semblerprovenir du corps de l’interprète sur scène et jamais des haut-parleurs dans la salle. À titre de conceptricede l’environnement sonore, elle collabore avec Denis Marleau sur Les Aveugles (2002) et Intérieur (2001).Pour cette dernière pièce, elle est nominée finaliste pour le Masque de la contribution spéciale parl’Académie québécoise du théâtre.Auprès du cinéaste-metteur en scène François Girard, elle collabore en tant que compositrice surl’installation La Paresse (1999, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal) et les pièces, Novecento (2001, auThéâtre de Quat’Sous) et Le Procès (2004, Théâtre du Nouveau Monde). Elle est finaliste pour le Masquede la conception sonore pour cette dernière création.En danse contemporaine, elle accompagne la chorégraphe Danièle Desnoyers en tant que compositricesur plusieurs créations entre 1999 et 2008. Mentionnons notamment Concerto Grosso pour corps etsurface métallique, création qui fût présentée dans des lieux exceptionnels de diffusion pour la danse,notamment la Biennale de Musique de Zagreb en 2003.Les pièces Fluid Grounds (2018) de la compagnie Par B.L.eux, chorégraphie de Benoît Lachambre etSophie Corriveau et Les Barbelés (2017) de Annick Lefebvre mis en scène par Alexia Bürger, sont parmises plus récentes collaborations.À titre d’artiste solo, elle a également réalisé des performances, créations pour CD et installations sonoresprésentées dans des galeries et festivals ici et en Europe.
