Well, the cinema industry has well and truly taken a hit, with theatres shut around the world.For our local cinemas, despite being open, a lack of new release movies coming out has meant business is slow.But there is hope; the new Fast and Furious movie has had the biggest worldwide opening for a film since the pandemic began.And, as the United States is heading into their summer movie season and restrictions ease, there is hope global cinema will bounce back.Karen Hawes owns Tivoli cinemas in Tauranga and Cambridge and told Kate Hawkesby she is optimistic about how the US season can help the industry here.“Definitely, with the American market opening up, it's got to have a knock on effect to us as well."LISTEN ABOVE
