Linda Walter, Director of the Outdoor Adventure Center shares many stories about the success of Bringing "up north" to downtown Detroit! since the Outdoor Adventure Center opened last year.Located on Detroit’s riverfront in the historic Globe Building, with the Dequindre Cut Trail for walking, running and biking running through its backyard, the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) gives you a taste of Michigan’s great outdoors in the heart of the city.Linda talks about their exciting outdoor adventures with hands-on activities, exhibits and simulators -- walk behind and touch a waterfall, step into a fishing boat and reel in a big fish, hit the trail on a mountain bike or snowmobile, and much more. At the OAC, you’ll learn about how the DNR manages state parks, forests, wildlife and fish as you climb the roots and explore the canopy of a massive bur oak tree, hop aboard a real airplane, and see what’s swimming in their aquarium.Linda shares stories and information about the very successful Wild about Wednesday events, free for all and reminds us that the DNR manages an interconnected park system in downtown Detroit that includes the Outdoor Adventure Center, Belle Isle Park, and William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor. She reminds us that the DNR is committed to establishing, maintaining and revitalizing these parks and facilities for the people of Detroit and its many visitors,”Her enthusiasm speaks for itself as she encourages all ages to visit the Outdoor Adventure Center and discover all there is to explore in the spectacular outdoors, parks, public lands and waters that are yours to enjoy.The Outdoor Adventure Center is a caretaker of "Say nice things about Detroit" and has available in their gift shop infant to adult t-shirts, mugs, stickers, magnets and for sure some nice things to say about Detroit.Thanks for listening...
