Deirdre Hebert returns to Pagan-Musings to talk about Pagans and addiction. Dee is the author of The Pagan in Recovery, a book which takes the 12 Step Program so popular with addiction support groups and puts it in a perspective from a Pagan. After hearing positive feedback from several drug and alcohol counselors from across the United States, Dee has been pondering releasing a second edition of the book - or two second editions. Why two? Best practices in addiction counseling suggest that men and women be separated for their counseling and recovery issues. This is not a sexist idea. Men and women do have different issues with addiction. Many experence very similar issues, but how they address them within themselves is different based on their personal gender expectations and societal expectations.
