In this episode I interview Gretchen Leggitt.  Gretchen is a Muralist who graduated with a BFA from Colorado State University (That’s where we met), is currently living and working out of Bellingham, WA, where she has put up the largest mural in the state of Washington.  In this episode we talk about the development of one’s unique personal style, the artistic wonder of Tuscany, current art happenings in the world, and so much more. Gretchen was drawn to Bellingham by the outdoor lifestyle - snowboarding, mountain biking and sea kayaking. These Pacific NW elements, along with bright colors, crisp lines, and large-scale design, make up her signature style. Her work can be found on the walls of local breweries and climbing gyms, to the sides of buildings in Bellingham, Seattle and Denver. Gretchen’s ‘big kahuna?’ A mural of the North Cascades that’s two football fields long and took an entire month to create on the side of a PSE building. It’s the largest mural in Washington State.

“I felt my walls closing in until I discovered bicycles. I couldn't walk, I couldn't drive, however, I figured out how I could strap my crutches onto my bicycle and ride… My bike became my emblem of freedom.” Gretchen Leggitt found her passion for cycling after a freak high school accident, and has since ridden across multiple continents. She's also an accomplished artist, with the bragging rights of having done the largest mural in Washington State. We talk bikes, creativity, rock climbing, chasing your passion, and what you learn when you take your significant other on a grueling bike packing journey.
